I heard the news about the releasing of old D&D products, and I noticed they released the Basic Set Rulebook for only $4.99. I started playing with 2nd edition back in the late 90s/early 2000s, so I figured it would be interesting to experience something from way back when.
I have to say, I'm having a blast just reading the book so far. From being told how to roll a d4 to explaining that your character is essentially defined as a set of six stats to reminding players that they should designate a "caller" to do all the talking and deciding of everyone's actions, I'd say it was a well spent five bucks.
And I shall test out this archaic game this Saturday!

Yes, the Caller promoted the party as team as it cut down on arguments that ended in "But I was just joking when I said that!"
There was alot less "Are you sure you want to do that?" time drag too.

Holy Crap I remember the Caller! I just had a flashback to disco, hair bands, and everyone freaking out about the devil possessing our souls through the dice...
Damn... I'm old. I guess it's ok cuz I'm also armed...
Regards, Walt
