I listen on my phone using the built in podcast app on the iPhone. I really dislike iTunes and its resource hogging but I guess I'll deal since I have the phone now.

I download straight from the homepage and transfer the file to my trusty MP3 player. I don't even own a smartphone; it's an expense I don't need right now. Would really hate to have to listen to ads! --Though I'd be okay with a sponsor message, if you got a sponsor. (Pinnacle should be paying you anyway for all the pimpage you give to Savage Worlds. :-P )

While I do not think a podcast app would be the best thing for the show. I do think a RPG related Happy Jacks app would be awesome. Happy Jacks dice roller, Initiative tracker or some such. Maybe turn the Rolodex villain contest into random villain generator app. Not to derail things, but I like this idea. I wouldn't mind some ads if we got some Happy Jacks branded things. Someone asked if there was a truly random dice roller that used the atmosphere or whatever to get results. Happy Jacks could have that on Android.

Also, Pinnacle is a good choice to approach since you believe in the product. Their contribution in sponsorship would be more in terms of recognising your preference rather than you pandering for money. Of course, I will still question any definition of a "system" that morphs to the whim of player gestalt (not to mention recurring topics of fudging against a system, playing the game your way, etc., etc., that pretty well goes against any definition of system I understand). I prefer to look upon designers and such maleable systems as facilitaing games with good mechanics and appealing concepts. Even with that opinion, I can still get behind your advertisers if you believe in them and they reciprocate some love.

I use BeyondPod on my android.
I only use one specific streaming app from WFMU because they have to cut the music out of their podcasts.
For anything else, I can stream it over the TuneIn Radio app or Stitcher.
I remember getting some podcast's streaming app back when I had an iphone 3G and apple didn't have a podcatcher app outside of iTunes. I remember, the streaming app was a pain to use because I had lousy coverage at the office and the stream would drop off sometimes and I had a hell of a time finding my place again. Needless to say, I un installed it pretty quickly.

Re expenses, I pay $25 a month for Virgin Mobile (now it's 35 for new customers) and the phone cost me $100 on amazon and has served me well for a while now.
I'll be switching to a new Android this month only because I noticed Tmobile is offering a $30 100 min plan. That's 200min less than my Virgin plan but who talks on phones anyway?
Just thought I'd share. Smartphones don't need to be a huge investment. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere - then you might be fucked.

WHAT! Ads on my HJ podcast! Never! How dare you try to not pay more money for something that I listen to every week for free! I protest sir! Unless the ad is for Massengill...then that's acceptable.
Sincerely,
Col. D.T. Pints (Mrs.)
P.S. I use the podcast app for iOS on my Steve Jobs personal communicator and it works swimmingly as a go to podcast aggregator. I see no need for a change.
Congrats on those numbers by the way!

I use my <ack!> blackberry to listen via the native 'blackberry podcasts' app. It auto downloads from your RSS feed. Were I on an iPhone or Android device, I'd likely follow the same regimen and find an RSS scraper to get it from the source.

I use Podkicker on my Android to listen to my podcasts. Works well for me.

Did you add our RSS into Podkicker or were we already listed in their directory?
Several podcatchers in their descriptions say they're accessing a database of "100,000" podcasts.
Trying to figure out if they're using an existing podcast directory, iTunes' listing, or what.

So I Installed a few apps and searched for RPG podcasts. Happy jacks came up on them all from the 1st result on podkicker which actually had null as the description to about 7th to 12th result those ones had the description of pursuing the RPG hobby with reckless abandon

Recently started using the itunes podcast app. It works fairly well for a free gig.
Which ever way you go, i think keeping the backlog easy to find is the key. Some people may be intimidated by it, but there is lots of value in there.
Now if only you can smart tag all the subjects in old episodes <Watches Stu's head explode>

When I first searched the Podkicker database for "Happy Jacks" it popped right up. Once I subscribed to the HJ channel, I have quick and easy access to the new episodes (but not APs though).

Hrm.
They're using someone's podcast database, but not iTunes (or else the AP would show up).
