if they want to explore outside you should have giant ants - or really giant anything - if you give the mansion some grounds. that would fit the monster movie 50's vibe nicely...

You've just reminded me of an old horror movie that haunted me for weeks afterwards as a child. I saw at a YMCA Summer Camp back in the days of hired projectors (VCR's were few and videoshops didn't even exist yet). It had to do with these beetles that were crawling around on the outskirts of a town and they could start small fires or really big ones when they all massed together . . . ancient memory, very foggy and haven't clue what it called Aaron

That's the one!!! cheers I can tell you it really shit me up for weeks . . . possibly not helped by being a relatively recent Australian immigrant from NZ who was still trying to adjust to everything being poisonous and the constant presence of cockroaches everywhere . . . Aaron

There is a reason that when the English discovered that massive landmass they decided to turn it into a penal colony instead of colonizing it like they did North America and the West Indies.

Yes it was called the war of independence - they lost one option so they founded another. To be fair the penal side was really a method of enforced colonisation - a ready made working class for the land holders that quickly followed. Squatters, so called because you put a stick in the ground to stake a claim the boundary was a far as the eye could see in either direction when 'squatting' next to said stick. Aaron
