for Mongoose or Classic Traveller. Or Savage Worlds even. I loved my ragged copy of Deathworld when I was a kid. www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28346www.amazon.com/Deathworld-Harry-Harrison/dp/1932100415"This is the secret of the power holster," Brucco said, tapping the flexible cable. "It is perfectly loose while you are using the weapon. But when you want it returned to the holster-" Brucco made an adjustment and the cable became a stiff rod that whipped the gun from Jason's hand and suspended it in midair. "Then the return." The rod cable whirred and snapped the gun back into the holster. "The drawing action is the opposite of this, of course." "A great gadget," Jason said. "But how do I draw? Do I whistle or something for the gun to pop out?" "No, it is not sonic control," Brucco answered with a sober face. "It is much more precise than that. Here, take your left hand and grasp an imaginary gunbutt. Tense your trigger finger. Do you notice the pattern of the tendons in the wrist? Sensitive actuators touch the tendons in your right wrist. They ignore all patterns except the one that says hand ready to receive gun. After a time the mechanism becomes completely automatic. When you want the gun, it is in your hand. When you don't, it is in the holster." - from Deathworld, 1960, by Harry Harrison, rest in peace How about a simple "ignores the minor action to draw"? What are folks' thoughts? (edit: added book links to spread the silver age science fiction luv)

Sounds reasonable. But just for the fun of it...
On the theory that an unusually body position would cause it to try to deploy to the wrong location: How about adding a "ignores the minor action to draw if in a standing position. If in a prone position or the gun and holster is concealed, drawing becomes a major action."
I don't recall if there were penalties for hiding a laser pistol that's hooked up to a battery pack, but if there were I'd think they would apply here as well.
For a little fun you could have the player's gun suddenly pop out and suspend in the air if he happens to pick up another gun or gun shaped item and trigger the muscle pattern.

There was a DC comic in the 70s called Star Hunters. Written by the great en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_MichelinieIn it the hero, Donovan Flint Had guns attached to his gloves that would unfold and swing into his palms at "the speed of thought". Id go this route and use quick draw, or fast draw...what ever its called in your system of choice. Id attach a gadget build to it as well. It was a great book that sadly didn't catch on. Id love to see it come back, and I did mine it for ideas back in the day for Space Opera games. Here is a summery of the book for those interested www.writeups.org/fiche.php?id=3904
