I just got finished to listening to season 9 episode 13, and Stu's concerns about both his storage and bandwidth limits with his webhost. I recently (like a few months ago) deleted my archive of the backlog because of my supreme confidence that I could always download them as needed...
If we had to pay a small fee to access archives of the show, I guess that'd be fair enough. As for making everything mono, I think that's a shame. I don't know about you guys, but personally I've found having the different hosts on the show coming from different 'directions' as I listened, to be a great help to keeping up with the conversation. As for dropping to 64kbps, to be honest I didn't even notice. Mind you I listen on headphones that don't have amazing sound quality, so others' mileage may vary.
What does everyone else think?

I haven't minded the mono.
As far an archive fee, I'm okay with that.
But I could also help seed a torrent as well.

I'm fine with the mono, I'm fine with the fee, and I'm fine with the 64bit. I would also be willing to seed a torrent whenever I'm online.

I actually prefer mono as it means when I'm in the office I can just put one headphone in and not lose any of the audio while still being able to hear when people talk to me.
Actually I wonder how much space Stu could save by reducing the backlog to mono and 64kbps?

I am willing to pay for the backlog or even do the torrent thing to host seasons.
Ultimately I'd even back a fundraising scheme to get a better server...

Well, strictly for reasons of frugality, I have to go with mono. Equipment breakdowns, such as shorts in headphones, are not easily repaired in my home. And listening to half a show would not be something I am willing to do. (I know, it's a first world problem...)

Yeah I'm pretty much a one ear to show one ear to crazed, ranting skipper...mono is my go to. I think the backlog is a pretty useful resource that's why I'm helping with show notes. Stu can groan about the old episodes all he wants but there's some pretty cool stuff being brought up and sagely/drunkenly discussed I think we need to make sure that shit stays accessible. I'm sure a kickstarter with Sir Guido providing chain mail dice bag stretch goals...:-D. Stork providing cursed dice hermetically sealed to mail to enemies, and Claire to provide some "modified" dice of her own. I'd sign up for that...

I suggest a torrent, or ask for donations. How much does it cost per month? I'm happy to help you guys out some.

I'm not caught up yet, unfortunately, so I haven't heard these complaints, but I wouldn't be against torrenting or paying a little to help with costs. It would be a shame to see the old episodes disappear, as I also like to go back and listen to the old ones.

Actually I wonder how much space Stu could save by reducing the backlog to mono and 64kbps? I'm guessing that changing the bitrate on the old stuff would a quite a bit of time.
