So is it just me or does taking a sword that is cursed and could possibly(likely) corrupt both the land and anyone that comes near and burying it on property belonging to someone else seem a bit....dishonorable? Also my impression is that the empire takes the Taint very seriously and concealing that sort of thing could be very problematic. Seems like trying to secret it away to use against the Lion would likely backfire since questions could be raised as to why such a dangerous and tainted artifact was secreted away. It treads dangerously close to "concealing the taint" which is a very serious offense.
I also kinda liked the peasant idea, from what I head read that wouldn't break much of the Bushido code except maybe compassion. After all peasants are less than people.
Loving Kimi(?) playing matchmaker. Reminds me of junior high dating where the girls got together and decided who was dating who, and the guys were basically just innocent bystanders. Very fun stuff! Stu playing the Lion courtier is fantastic.
Really enjoying these and I want a daily installment dammit!

Yea, I agree with most of what you said, as for the Killing the Peasant idea, thats something the scorpion would do if they didn't know how to deal with the taint as it is.
As it is these guys are new to the world and system in general, and i doubt they want to go and research the minutia of the setting. Then again they could just be very uneducated and backwoods samurai that don't know about the witch hunters and exorcists of the world. They are also Crane...crane don't like admitting they have problems.
Kimi talking up the others was great, and then her buying robes because she saw someone else with nice robes was also great, I think SirGuido mentioned this in another post, but the group might want to hire on a merchant servant to accompany them for all this shopping they are doing!
L5R is one of my fave settings, and Roll and Keep is by far my favorite system.
Stu any chance or interest in you guys ever trying out 7th Sea? Its the same system set in fake Europe during the Renaissance, with tons of fencing school styles and other classic sword styles, like Wild Talents it has a "bennie" system in which great moments reward Drama Dice (which work like Void points in that you can add a 1k1 before the roll, or after the roll)
Some complaints about it are that its no where near as Lethal as L5R, because you are playing the over the top swashbuckling hero. But i know I would have a blast hearing you guys try to out flash one another in duels and crazy ballroom fights.

In fairness, I think their intent was to hide the sword away while they figured out how to destroy/cleanse it. Not to just stick it in the ground and forget about it. It's almost winter, after all; they won't be able to go tromping around the country asking people HEY DO YOU KNOW ANY EXORCISTS, WE HAVE THIS CURSED SWORD. NO? IF YOU SEE ANY, TELL THEM TO TALK TO THE INOUKAI, K THX.
Though, "destroying" it might just end up being taking it out in a boat and dumping it in the ocean.

There must be some misunderstanding. What I meant to do was offer a manly bro-fist or perhaps a bro-hug. I sometimes find it hard to convey the proper tone in purely written communication. Ha! Nice one. I guess I'll settle for a bro-fist or a bro-hug. *super exploding bro-fist*Attachments:

I realize that sometimes it is hard to convey tone in purely written communications. It is really not my intention to anger, annoy, or insult anyone, especially cadave. At most I was trying for friendly ball-busting. If that's not how I am coming across, then I apologize and by all means, someone please tell me to STFU. I too am enjoying these APs immensely. I'm not trying to backseat roleplay, critique someone's play style, or to imply that people, especailly CADave, are playing incorrectly. If that is how my comments are being taken, then again I apologize. It's just that Nikoma is so damn close to doing what many of us want to see him do, that having to wait another session is a bummer. Especially considering how masterfully cadave has gone about putting all the necessary pieces in place. stu, I caused a scene on the train last night listening to the episode. When I got to the Lion Clan "party" and you remarked to tyler "Oh gee. The Courtier knows exactly what questions to ask to get you to talk. What a surprise." I started laughing out loud. Of course all the half-drunk salarymen on the train started looking at me, but I didn't care. That was just too damn funny. Fear not, I don't take anything in a personal way. I just like to leave people invested in the future romance of Nikoma. Much like the first season of the American Office, people love to see a relationship evolve. I'm also greatly looking forward to complicating one of your hippie games come SeptemberCon!

I'm also greatly looking forward to complicating one of your hippie games come SeptemberCon! Awesome! I'd be happy to have you in one of SetemberCon my games, cadave! Though I hate to break it to you, but you can't "complicate" the hippie games I play. The more wrenches my players throw at me, the more wrenches I have to throw back at them! Those games fall apart when the players don't try to complicate things, and just sit there doing nothing.

If sitting and doing nothing is a detriment, we may seriously have to consider re-branding 'hippie games,' as a genre...

We usually have the honor and glory conversations before we hit record. I'd be interested in hearing one sometime. It would be instructive for someone who's trying to learn the system (like me).

LOL, that's adorable, Henryhankovitch! (Sorry if you don't consider that a compliment, but it's really the only word for it. )
