Sand dune drifts are piled high where the city walls once stood. All that remains of the once mighty wall are half-buried stone blocks and the city gates; marble columns carved in the likeness of towering human forms, emerging from the crashing sea.
Beyond the gates and the drifting sand you witness the stone ruins stretching as far as they eye can see, and toward the center of the temple-city, a golden dome, rising above the maze of crumbling walls.
The howling wind picks up, scouring you with stinging dust, as if to drive you and your companions on...
This thread is for the 2013 JackerCon Dungeon World game scheduled for 8pm PMT July 20th. (It'll be 12 noon July 21st over here in Japan.) As Dungeon World games are mostly built in play (damn hippie games), there isn't much I can provide in way of a game blurb. My players (and everyone else) can grab the character sheets and play aids from my DropBox here, and the Barbarian here. Even though we'll be playing online, I recommend that you print out the sheets so you can write on them during play. Each class playbook is two pages long, and can be doubled up onto a single letter-sized page to conserve paper. The Cleric and Wizard each have an additional two pages for their spell lists. The play aids (Basic Moves and Special Moves) can also be doubled up onto a single letter-sized sheet as well. As making Dungeon World characters takes all of five minutes, there's no reason for people to decide on anything until we actually sit down to start the game. However, I understand that people might not want to print out every single playbook to have on hand. Therefore, if you'd like, you can call character classes in this thread on a first come, first serve basis. Just as a refresher, the classes are Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, FIghter, Paladin, Ranger, Thief, and Wizard. Choose... wisely.

Herp drep. I forgot to mention two other things. First, no doubling up on classes. D.T. Pints has claimed the Wizard, so that's now off the table. Second, people will need dice. A d4, two d6es, a d8, a d10, and a d12. No d20s. If you show up with one of those, you're getting booted.

But Roll20 also has a dice roller that works well...in an everyone playing gets to watch the do or die moment happen. Timothy Welken-Wizard for Hire!

I am playing this one! Can I bring my halfling sea-druid back? That was awesome! I will re-do her from the start though, if I can, because I lost my old sheet :/

Forget practicing your brogue, D.T. Pints. Practice your creepy Christopher Walkin. I'd scribbled down notes for everyone's character during the previous games, Forresst. But when I pulled out my DW binder to start working on the Lost Temple-City adventure, turns out I don't have them any more. I think your halfling sea-druid was named Thistle. Just a heads up though, you guys will be trekking through the southern deserts. Not a lot of water there at all. Which will make it even more epic when your sea-druid shapeshifts into a blue whale and just falls onto the final big bad. Crushing him/her/it flat.

I spent my lunch break and a couple hours after work writing up my notes for the Lost Temple-City Dungeon World scenario. It looks like its going to be a real ass kicker. Not that "you opened the incorrect, yet absolutely identical-looking door and now take 20d100 points of damage with no save" Tombs of Horrors style bullshit, mind you. But close to it. So I'm thinking that characters will start at 2nd level. We can go over exactly what this means when we start the game, but basically you'll get to add an additional +1 to one stat, you'll get to choose one Advanced Class Move (from the Level 2-5 category), and the Wizard will add an extra spell to their spellbook. Additionally I'll say your characters have all have a month or more of downtime, and so gain 3 Preparation from the Bolster Special Move. You can spend 1 Preparation to add +1 to any roll, but only 1 Preparation per roll. The fact there are four of you and I'm still giving you all this should give you some inkling as to the level of challenge I have in store. Good luck. You'll all need it.

Well...from the sound of it maxinstuff this might be like your DCC game and you can just wait in the wings until your number is called "Adventurer #5: Your TPK is ready..."
I would imagine Hyvemynd being the promoter of Fair Trade Games {or was it Free Range Games} ? that he is will make this a Google On Air Hangout so that all the people...EVER. Can watch him ruthlessly dehydrate a sorry band of intrepid adventurers, or death by sand chafing in the undercarriage.

Oh yeah. This will definitely be an On Air Hangout. Share the love and all that stuff. Part of the reason I was so disappointed with the sub-par quality of the Tower of the Ice Witch AP I just put up was I intended to use it as a propaganda tool. Have people listen to so they could see A) that you don't have to plan out everything when you're the GM, B) that asking for and incorporating player ideas/suggestions leads to greater involvement, C) how the success/partial success/miss mechanics work, and D) how you don't need a telephone sized rulebook to run a game. Now I'll just have to show that with the JackerCon game. As far as contacting alternates. Hmm... I'm not really sure. I'm open to suggestions.

If said alternates just happen to be on G+ watching then you could just send an invite to said alternate. I got a confirm from all of my players for the Dark Heresy game. Maybe I'll put up a reminder to all GMs to check in with players a day or so before. One of the luxuries of an online con vs sitting at an empty table in some dingy hotel banquet room. That also smells like the inside of a Taun Taun...
