Gods help me...I'm playing in a 2E campaign. After much deliberation, and finding out that the version of Gnomes (a race I have an irrational hatred toward) in this game are actually halfings who've settled in the city, and are heavily inspired by the Irish Pikey culture, I'm going to be playing a Gnome Thief/Illusionist in a game which will heavily revolve around a widespread thieves' guild. The entire game has been pitched as a fantasy story by Guy Ritchie. I'll be partnered with a human bard aiming to be a con man, and a halfling pickpocket. We're using a flat point-buy with 72 attribute points to allocate 1-for-1. Bear in mind that I need a min of 16 in Int and Dex to qualify for bonus XP and the Illusionist school. Any advice from folks more experienced than my Millenial/post 3E generation ass would be very appreciated. I've got an aesthetic in mind (based initially on the Pathfinder iconic Bard with a different hair color, heavy celtic-style tattoos, and shoes), but not much else.

I'm thinking: STR: 8 DEX: 18 CON: 11 INT: 18 WIS: 8 CHA: 9

Are you using non-weapon proficiencies? Because considered selection can really build the character you want. Aaron

Also when allocating thief skills consider your racial, ability and non-armour bonuses. ie: if you have natural bonuses you should spend more on skills that aren't to get a better skill spread - meaning you're more versatile rather than just a master of a few Aaron

We are using NWP's, so I'm looking forward to all those bonuses. I normally play martial characters, so this will be a change. As far as the thief skills go, with 3 characters all having access to them I think we're going to try and specialize a little - the halfling pickpocket will obviously put way more points into that skill than I will, etc.
