Hey guys, I'm running a GURPS game based on my supernatural western graphic novel series, Pariah Missouri. People have called it similar to DeadLands. It's SUNDAY 2pm Here's the description on Strategicon: Pariah is a riverboat boomtown in 1857, four years before the American Civil War. It is also a nexus for folk-magic and the supernatural. This adventure will be the re-telling of the critically-acclaimed graphic novel Pariah, Missouri book one and will be using the GURPS 4th edition. go to www.pariahmissouri.com for more info on the book and setting. It will be a role-playing HEAVY game! Oh and the Book 2 of the series is now on Kickstarter! www.pariahmissouri.com

Hey Mook, It looks like I picked up a spot on your Friday afternoon game. Will you have hard copies of your GURPS GMing book at the con, or is it a pdf only proposition?

PDF-only, I'm afraid ... unless it sells well enough that they do a softcover run. (Like GURPS: Space, GURPS: Fantasy, etc. -- their store pages have a radio button toggle for PDF or Softcover) I do have a single hardcover making its way to me from Lulu which should be here in time for the con, but that would only be for display. Believe me, if SJG were selling it in any sort of dead tree fashion, I'd be lugging around a suitcase full of them. Wheee, bunnies!

I'm running my Lego dungeon game, this time called "The Labors of Yendor" (just in time for Labor day) both Friday 2pm (open for all peeps), and then Sunday 9am (the Family special). This will be the last time I run it before I destroy the dungeon...
...and hopefully come back with a SPACE version next year.

I'll be running a Basic D&D romp though the Caves of Chaos with a twist. The players will play the monsters. Additionally, I'll be trying out a new character creation/character ability rule set that I've brewed up. The plan is to have five or six Archetypes that players can choose to play and spec them out the way they want. They just tick off the things they want their dude to have. Some of these will be ability/skill trees with final powers at the end of the tree, others are just occupational point sinks to get better skills, hit dice, etc. Experience is awarded after every combat so leveling up happens during gameplay and everything keeps rolling.
The "engine" of Basic will still be operating in the background, I just want to try this out to see how it washes out with the players. My goal is to have a dynamic con game that keeps the players interested in the fun of the action along with the tantalizing rewards of leveling up from combat to combat. I can't say that I was the one who invented this kind of play, the dudes who used to run the Pre-Rebellion Traveller tournaments at Stratcon used to do this very thing with character creation. They even a check box for the iconic 50' of rope in the equipment section. I don't think I'll go this far.
See you all there! Excelsior!

Being a veteran of Tomes' "The Valentines of Yendor," I can't praise it enough. It was so much fun a Orccon. If you are looking for a fun event, take advantage of this one.

I had the best time at Gateway, my second Strategicon. Thank you to The Mook, Stork, and JiB for GMing fantastic games, and thank you to The Mook, JiB, Gina, and CADave for making my new-to-RPG-gaming wife feel welcome. You guys are the best, and I'm looking forward to the next opportunity.
I bought my digital copy of The Mook's, "How to Be a GURPS GM," this morning. Come on, everybody! Let's support our own and everybody get a copy!

You and your wife were a joy to have at the table, both when I was running and when I was playing! Very fun weekend.

Mook's "How to be a GURPS GM", in all its GURPSY goodness, is really a steal!
