so over all this is a great system, that's what i'm hearing, now does it still use miniatures like 4th ed? or does it go back to older DnD style where it's all descriptions again? i know that 4th really pulled you out of the Role playing when combat started.

It can be whichever is more comfortable for you. We don't use a battle map or miniatures and it works just fine. One of the other guys in our group is in a game that uses miniatures and he says it is_much_better that 4E.

Movement is WAY less rigid than it has been in the past. This lends itself for both tactical mini combat as well as miniless combat. With the removal of space based attacks of opportunity and AoO's for spell casting, moving around the battlefield is a lot easier. This makes it easier to narrate and easier to plop mini's down on the table.
My group uses minis without squares. You can visually see where you are in comparison to where monsters are, but we don't really worry about counting squares.
