I remember a Scarlet Brotherhood Monk, from the Greyhawk Setting, he was pretty cool, though he got a save or die ability from level 4 or something (with a bonus on save), these dudes were scary...

I a copy of the first ed monk and just yanked him forward and will see how well it works. For the most part the rules are the same just have to convert all of their charts to formula's. 1E monks also get a save or die mechanic but its at 7th level and it quiet difficult to do. It works like this: 1) If you hit an opponent at are 5 higher then the target AC you will stun them. 2) If you successfully stun the opponent you have a chance of instantly killing them equal to their AC plus you monk levels over 7. i.e. -1 AC creature and you are a level 9 monk. You will have a 2% chance of instantly killing the creature. Kind of difficult but the chance is still there.
You know how the scarlet brotherhood monk works per say?

I found him! Check your PMs.
Edit: Actually what the killing blow does is everytime you get stunned you need to make a save at +4 or die.
