BUAHAHAHA! "Is there something better than O'Connells?" "Anything. I'd rather go to the Reno Room than O'Connell's." HAHAHA! Funny because it's true, especially now that Shilleleagh's next to O'Connells is gone. When in doubt go to Ferns. Just proceed with caution if you go to the Mineshaft.

I can't remember if it was said in this AP or in the previous episode, but someone mentioned that you can't get diseases since you're vampires. This is untrue in Vampire:TM. Keep in mind, this game was released in the early nineties when AIDS awareness was getting a big push. That being said, if I remember correctly if you feed on someone with a blood born disease or a transmittable disease you then carry that disease usually for the rest of your unlife. To make things worse you can pass those diseases to the people you feed on, something the Camarilla will crack down on you for to the point of either killing the offender or enforcing feeding restrictions on that individual.
But not a lot of GMs run with this gaming element because, truthfully, having it be some random event that doesn't hold any impact on the story and can shut down that character can derail a game pretty hard. But the various feeding restrictions that some of the clans have was loosely a metaphor for safe sex.

I think in VtM20 there is a -chance- to pick up a blood borne disease, but it isn't a sure thing. I believe you're referring to Carmindy's (sp?) debauchery. So, yes, she might pick up hepatitis or something worse, but the point is it isn't going to hurt -her- (beyond getting caught and having restrictions put on her, but as described she seems like the type who doesn't believe she would get caught).

Dear Crom, a vampire with Rabies would be a nightmare to run. Or a great story seed. I just see vampire Jerry Seinfeld saying "What's the deal with all these rabid vampires?"

Two scary words: Rabid. Brujah. Or an HIV-infected Ishtarri (from Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom).

Which begs the question, can a Gangrel get heart worm? How much would that suck. At that point just dive head first into Wyrm taint and have a happy unlife.

Listened to this episode this morning and I've got to say, the way Stu used Skully's Tremere contact was a master stroke. It's always cool to see a GM immediately incorporate a suggested PC background element as a foil for the story. But then, I'm generally a fan of the "give the PCs enough rope to hang themselves" school of GMing...

Keep in mind, this game was released in the early nineties when AIDS awareness was getting a big push. ... But not a lot of GMs run with this gaming element because, truthfully, having it be some random event that doesn't hold any impact on the story and can shut down that character can derail a game pretty hard. But the various feeding restrictions that some of the clans have was loosely a metaphor for safe sex. #TheMoreYouKnow I think much of the sex and violence of feeding is what keeps it about vampires and not about night time super heroes. If a GM isn't careful, the entire feeding aspect becomes a hand waved "you ate someone, fill in the dots." But keeping that element alive and present is so important. The entire purpose of the humanity system is tied to the fact that if you aren't careful you will decimate a lot of innocent lives and how do you deal with that? The GM must keep the person behind the meal. If you are lucky enough to have a herd, or trusted humans to feed on, how do you deal with the ever growing intimacy of this person who you are constantly relying on, yes for nourishment, but also for your actual survival and gained through what is effectively an act of ecstasy. What about that person's feelings and how they change over time? Why do they feel obligated to give themselves to this vampire over and over again? It's also a GM trap that the players need to feed - a lot. And it can become a burden on a game to constantly side line into those brutal/sexual encounters. But the constant need, and the inability to escape that hunger - despite its effect on your life and your home (and your humanity) - for eternity, is what the vampires existence is about. Is not just feeding, it is murder and it is sex. Gluttonous lust and hunger that can't ever be truly satisfied, ever. So I don't think it's surprising that they chose to include STDs into what is already a system built around risky intimate encounters.

I'm working through the Mote of Sin AP and wow, is it great! Love Skully and Arnold, they both crack me up. And I love the way the story is going.
