I know this isn't the RPG, but has anyone played either of the ship games (X-Wing or Armada) and how was it?

I've only played X-Wing, and only with the most basic of sets, but I thought it was so well done. Quick, easy and felt like a dog-fight (although in 2 dimensions).
I just think this system would work SO well for car combat a la Car Wars or Auto Duel or whatever.

I really enjoyed it but not enough to justify the monetary and time investment it requires.

They are both fun games; X-Wing more so for me. Beware of the temptation to spend all your hard-earned cashy money on the models. Seductive, it is......

The game is great, however... I stopped getting ships around the time I saw Armada and Imperial Assault come out. I realized this was never going to end and at some point there would be 1500 minis across all the games.
Really the way to get into it is to research the build-outs... pick one that sounds fun, then make that set of ships your main focus. Perhaps coming up with a few alternate ships to mix things up. I was hell bent on getting one of everything.

The best way is to buy a 3D printer... But, if you've any inkling to play Star Wars as an RPG or do something crazy like play a grand mashup of Armada that turns into a dog fight with X-Wing that turns into a boarding via Imperial Assault that turns into An Age of Rebellion game RPG...but surely that would be crazy talk. *dashes off making TIE fighter sounds*

I've seen some intriguing X-Wing games run at local gaming clubs. One that stood out was a race around the room with obstacles in place at strategic places on the course. It was a lot of fun, with some 'interesting' tactics.....

I've got both X-Wing, and Armada. I haven't played Armada yet, but I very much want to. I really dig X-Wing a lot.

neither are RPG compatible. Both are fun.
