If JiB was absolutely correct, he would say "It was Manowar". Better battle music, you will never find, just my own VERY biased two platinum pieces worth.

I hear you there, Defender is awesome! I still remember having to stop running a game over 20 years ago because Power of Thy Sword had to be listened to over and over. Manowar is fantastic! Fun band to see live too.

I know nothing about this "playing music during games" business.

JiB is NEVER absolutely correct, the best to be hoped for is that he is mildly tragically amusing in his ineptitude. He does however completely agree on this point. I like having music and sounds in games. It is important to keep the level of music down to the background level. On a couple of my ap's I've had the speaker too close to the digital recorder and I've hit a backing track only to have it really overbear the voices of the players. Cheers, JiB

I generally make playlists that are the expected length of the session and encompass the mood of the game as a whole, not specific moments or scenes. Then it just rides real quiet in the background to fill in those moments of quiet thinking where the table gets silent from time to time.

The last time I used music in the back ground was when I first ran Savage Worlds in a pulp setting. I bought a collection of 1930s oldies. It was 9.99 for about 35 tracks. Very cost-effective and fitting. I played it quietly in the background.
I don't know if it added anything or not.
I wouldn't do it in an AP because of potential copyright issues, but I'm hyper anal about that stuff.

What is the title of the song following 16-07? It's been played a number of times over the many seasons, but I can't seem to pick it out of the Poxy Boggards' track list.
