Thought I'd mention the end of the cut off line in the email was "with all proceeds going directly to Child's Play (they've raised over $10,000 so far)." That figure was at the time of sending in mid-January; the total was $12,764.32 when the donation period ended in February.

Still working through the episode, but regarding the discussion of rituals in 4th Ed and the lack of people using them:
I USED THEM! Well, as a GM I included them as things that the players would have to do over the course of the story. I even eliminated the gold coin cost for performing the rituals by just having an NPC provide the materials needed. It worked wonderfully! A lot of the most important and most memorable moments in the game revolved around rituals. Dear folks who play 4e: USE THESE MORE!

Just gonna throw this out there... Man o War was mentioned. My buds and me were joking a few months ago that their bassist looked like Professor Snape(its nice that he has a Summer job when school is out), but now I think he kinda looks like Tappy

Man o War was mentioned because they are fucking awesome, and I will never be ashamed to admit that I love them. My new podcast "Your Book is Why Daddy Drinks" can be found here: whydaddydrinks.podbean.com/We'll be recording our second episode tonight, so check back tomorrow

I had heard of them before(Guiness book of world records mainly), but I really started listening to their stuff in Brutal Legend. it was a frequent stop on the music list while I was driving the Druid Plow

I was introduced to them by the craziest of exes.
A love of viking metal and an aversion to women holding knives is all that really came out of that relationship, though.

Viking metal? That's pretty much the only thing I listen to. I let out a big "Oh HELLZ yeah!" when I heard it mentioned on the episode, startling several of the Japanese salarymen on the train with me. I'll give a big shout out to Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, Turisas, Tyr, and Wintersun. Amon Amarth is fecking awesome, though a lot harder than "hair metal" mentioned on the episode. It's not Viking metal, but Finntroll deserve a mention too; imagine if the trolls from the movie Trollhunter learned to play instruments and formed a metal bad. Yeah, they're that awesome.

Just gotta say this was definitely an improvement from the whole flame episode! I laughed out loud during this episode more than any other. Must have been the combination of hosts this time around. Great show as usual! You make my drive to and from work and during working out worthwhile!

I totally forgot that I was going to chime in about the whole PCs trying to persuade other PCs debate, even though it's been discussed on the cast before. My group just had our first session of Apocalypse World last night, and the task resolution mechanics for the game are very simple (just 2d6 + stat) resulting in either a miss, a weak hit, or a strong hit. When you attempt to seduce or manipulate another PC, you tell them what you want and roll. On a strong hit you chose both of the following, while on a weak hit you choose one of the following options: - if they do what you say, they mark experience;
- if they refuse, they're acting under fire.
So basically the options boil down to the carrot or the stick. Or both if you're lucky. I think it's a pretty decent solution since it doesn't rob the character of their free will (acting under fire isn't all that bad, really) but just encourages or discourages certain behavior or course of action for a short time.

[/li][li]if they refuse, they're acting under fire.[/quote] I love the idea of the mechanic, a very elegant solution. What specifically does "acting under fire" mean in this system?

I've been playing Star Wars Saga Edition lately as a Jedi with a particularly powerful mind trick. It's almost impossible to save against right now unless someone is a lot higher level than me. So naturally, I've indulged a little bit of the Dark Side to just go around mind tricking my fellow players into doing/thinking what I want them to. Largely, we've only done it just for laughs though but if a more serious situation actually presented itself, I actually really do like the system you've detailed there. Wonder how it could be implemented in other systems ...

The guy with the magical two-necked guitar - was Stu referring to Jon-Tom Meriweather from the Spellsinger series? Alan Dean Foster = Epic Win. I'll see your viking metal and raise you PIRATE METAL! Alestorm rocks. About the Grindhouse: We ran into the same problem that Tyler described (about the witnessed War Machine convention game) on the podcast - we had to delay starting the game for about fifteen minutes, until we could get more than a single PC in the arena. Also, I played in a bring-your-own-PC convention arena many years ago - I was one of the many munchkins who showed up with ridiculously shitty characters. I really wanted to avoid that with my game, so I made 'em myself.
