I'm signing up for GenCon events for this year and am wondering if there are any Happy Jacks games this year I should sign up for.
Let me know!

I only learned yesterday that I will be attending. We could arrange for a private game for Jackets. I am loathe and excited to suggest Jacket Invitational.

Sadly, money, time, and injury have conspired to keep me from going this year...

I'll be there! I actually almost signed up for that Spycraft game, but sadly, it conflicted with another game I wanted to play. Hope it goes well for you!

So, how was everyone's GenCon?
Mine was good. I finally got to PLAY Star Wars Saga Edition, and I also got to try two games I've really been wanting to learn, The One Ring and Leverage. I discovered a new (to me) indie game that my group has really got to try, Fall of Magic. I ended up running a couple of sessions of A Taste for Murder on Saturday night for Games on Demand. I didn't spend too much money. And I got to visit most of my favorite food trucks.

Mine was good overall, I played Red Markets twice and was beaten like a rented mule in X-Wing

After Action Review: Because I attended on short notice, I had no events scheduled, except the one I ran. For the first time ever at GenCon I was not rushing between things, or waiting for others. I had time for, as someone on another board said, chasing butterflies. I did have some obligations to Crafty-Games, but the people involved were excellent. Thursday I ran Spycraft 3.0. The advertised event wasn't available but I was provided with an assortment of vintage scenarios. One minute to midnight was a tactical raid on the Evil Villians Island Lair (do you see how that anagrams to evil?) Thursday night was a company Dinner at Rathskeller, fine German dining with fine German beer. I felt 19 again. Friday I worked in the booth demoing Mistborn: House War. (Shameless Plug) It's resource management and backstabbing. Simple game with some strategy. The rules are generally clear by the end of the first players turn, but the end game isn't. I followed this with a very dark, hippy game playtest at Games on Demand. Dragged me way out of my comfort zone, but I soldiered through. Saturday was another shift in the booth with more Mistborn followed by doing most of the puzzles in "The Great Puzzle Hunt". One looks all over the Convention Center for about 20 puzzles whose answers create another puzzle. Correct answers can be redeemed for chances to win GenCon badges for next year. I did not get 2 of them. Sunday Morning I finally ventured into the dealers hall to look at the stuff. I had been in it previously, but mostly to and from my shift in the booth. This time I did up and down all the aisles, looking at all the innovation in gaming. And costuming. and Art. And Geek Chachkys. And T Shirts. And Dice. And Minis. Largely a lot of things that gamers like, but really not a lot of game direct things. As this was my 8th or 9th GenCon it was what I expected, yet I was still somewhat disappointed. Another Shift in the Booth, followed by packing it up and another Con was finished. Best GenCon ever for my, and I'm asked to help Craft again next year.

I'm seriously thinking about volunteering at Games on Demand next year. I usually view GenCon as my con to play, not work, but it would give me a chance to play some GM-less indie games that I can't get my regular group to try. Oh, and I forgot to mention Night's Black Agents as another game I really enjoyed. Cold War spies fighting the vampire conspiracy ftw.

A psychic sandstorm rolls into dustbowl era Oklahoma. Save your friends, save the town.
