What are you watching? Union or League? International or a home league? Saracens are doing well at the moment.

League is the pretender to the throne . . . there can only ever be one rugby and it shall always be united (union) Aaron

When living in Oz Rugby Union was my favorite - the most action packed. But Rugby League was a somewhat distant second for me, since the action was relatively fluid. Rugby was the worst of the 3.

League is the pretender to the throne . . . there can only ever be one rugby and it shall always be united (union) Aaron Though I broadly agree, we must recognise that Rugby League is a result of Rugby Union's shameful, classist behaviour. Faced with northern, working class teams (that were at the time also better) the southern clubs decided that the principle of amateurism was paramount, and that northern mill and factory workers should not be paid by their clubs for taking time off to play. And clubs should not be allowed to charge spectators. (We're not talking megabucks here: this is spectators playing pennies so players could take shillings home.) Meanwhile, the mill and factory owners and investors who didn't have to work for a living, could practice and play Rugby in between fox-hunting and going to the Olympics, and at their fee-paying schools.

Lol - and then there are the Mighty All Blacks! A front row that'd scare Hannibal himself and all good working class lads. Aaron PS: ahem, pretty much declared my personal team bias there

Thank you for all the good input. Any suggestions on a next step? Watch UK and Oz/NZ Sports News for upcoming Championships - the best Rugby you'll see will be the Internationals between Country's eg: Six Nations and Rugby World Cup as well as Oz or NZ tours . . . Aaron

Awesome, I have been watching the matches on ESPN3. I get a kick out of the All Blacks Haka. What a hoot! Maori Warriors! Yay - that's my team Something to do with being born in NZ means it's a capital crime not to support them: I'm not safe even in the UK or Oz as NZ has a dedicated black ops team responsible for eliminating expat non-All Black supporting sedition (or as they phrase it 'heresy most foul') Aaron

I occasionally pay to watch what I think is called the Seven Nations...six nations...I don't remember. But I go with my mother in law to an Irish bar downtown and eat some classy food while swearing up a storm because Scotland sucks so bad.

You should find this weekends Aviva Permiership final on ESPN somewhere. Saracens vs Exeter (I will not call them "Chiefs"), should be a good match.

That match up sounds like something out of Warhammer.

It's more fun to play!
I used to go to watch Bath when I lived down that way. I occasionally get to a Gloucester game when I can. The only game I go to regularly is the annual Army-Navy game at Twickenham, to watch the Army dole out their yearly hammering to the Royal Navy.

Its nice to see a rugby topic. I am a Northampton Saints supporter and I would have preferred Exeter to win over the Sarries, but there we go. At least it wasnt the Tigers winning!

Nice! I just played my first games today. I played winger for two games. I am really hooked now! I saw what you did there Aaron ( for those that didn't: The Middle Front Forward in a Scrum is called the Hooker, because s/he is supposed to 'hook' the ball out of the scrum to the rear)
