It is almost upon us people! Thanks to everyone who has already entered events for September! You guys are awesome as always. I am looking forward to another bad ass con with my RPG community.
I am not making any big changes this time around so things should run pretty much exactly the way they did at Gamex. On a side note, I am looking for someone to help out the Games on Demand. If you are interested, please drop me a line to discuss. I will need someone to help with scheduling GoD games, deal with player and GM needs and help our marketing people get the word out. This is no small task, seeing how much it can grow, but there are some rewards for volunteering. The space situation seems to have stabilized. The Live Podcast is moving to the theater and that has given me some more room to work with! I would like to use that space for GoD.
If there is anything else I can do to improve your time with us at Strategicon, please do not hesitate to drop me a line. I am always eager to hear any feedback from you guys.
Warmest regards, Jim Sandoval RPG Supervisor Strategicon Events

It's where we do the puppet show. Well, it's an amateur puppet show. Okay, fine. It's where we drink scotch and talk to paper sacks.

Its a big audience hall out next to War Games and Video Games. If you would like to do a puppet show, I would be happy to provide space.

You know I have often toyed with the idea of doing a live Actual Play with the Happy Jacks host staff, recorded in front of a live audience at Strategicon. Would anyone be interested in that?

If you do that Monkeyfun Dave, you do know that to appease the con gods I would have to participate. Just sayin. That sounds like a fun idea, maybe not for the theater but in a slightly smaller space to reduce echo from the audience. If anyone is interested in actually doing that please let me know and I will make things happen. You just watch how much happening is made by me since I am the maker of things that happen. By the way guys, I am short on events so far and need more GAMES! If you have been waiting on getting stuff in, put something down. I am hoping that the hotels fascist food regulations haven't gotten too many of you guys down.

I just submitted one game for the Con. I don't know yet if I'm going to run a second. I'd like to.

Here is a list of the kinds of games we will be having so far at Gateway! ... Forget Me Not ... Praxis Protocol Yes! Jim Pinto games... if you haven't played in his stuff I highly recommend checking it out. They are very scene-framing type games (VERY narrative without dice... sometimes with fate chip style mechanics) I highly recommend the Forget Me Not: Murder Hobos he's running. Holy shit that's a sweet game for anyone wanting something funny and easy and just excellent.

jim is our Guest of Honor at Gateway this year! I have been wanting him to be a special guest for quite some time and I finally got my wish thanks to Victor Bugg. jim will also be play-testing some new stuff. For anyone that likes games of making shit up like Fiasco anything from Postworld Games is fantastic. A few cons back when jim was visiting last, Mike Leader, his wife Shawna and I played several games of Protocol with jim pinto (he hates capitals) and it was perhaps some of the most fun I have had at any convention ever. I HIGHLY recommend any of his games along with tomes . The best thing about these games is that they are absolutely ready right out of the box no prep needed. These games are GMless and run extremely well that way. All you need is a fecund imagination, a couple of other people, a deck of cards and the book. Many of his games have dark themes, but create surprisingly dimensional characters and really fascinating stories you really don't get to tell or hear all that often.

At this point it's redundant, but hey:
At Go Play NW that I attended just a month back, I spent an entire day playing games with Jim: a Protocol system game called Le Carnival (about being freaks in a travelling carnival during the depression), a Praxis system game called Dark Monk which exudes bizarre stories in a world with no time, Forget-Me-Not: Murder Hobos which is the funniest game I played in the last year, and another game test he had called Heaven's Collapse, which follows a fantasy narrative that emulates the historical context of The Rape of Nanjing (Japanese atrocities in China during WWII).
Yes, the games tend toward dark, but as plux2a says above, fascinating stories come out.

Got my shit together and submitted an event for Gateway 2016 (thanks Tomes for directing me to the correct thread!) Selling Rapture by the Pound. Horrible agents of the apocalypse calling themselves the Saturnine terrorize the once placid groves of Arcadia. The Beggar Kings turn a blind eye to the debauched human traffickers in Siren Alley. And a mind of wicked genius calling itself the UNI-Pawn conducts sinister plans from the refuge of Three Function Junction. Play as one of Rapture's female protagonists in the Bioshock universe! Mystery, Horror, and SAN Rolls await! Adult Themes. Character list:Dr. Brigit Tannenbaum: Famous genetic engineer and discoverer of ADAM.
