A couple years ago I promised my son we would take him to Strategicon when he was 12 thinking that would never happen. Well he is 12 now and super excited to come to the con. Do you guys have any recommendations for tween friendly events/games? Have any of you brought your kids and how did they fare?

You could try and find games that are kid friendly such as Toon. Not sure if you can contact the people running the tables or the con, but that would be my suggestion.

plusx2a can probably answer this. My daughter expressed interest in going last year, but hasn't mentioned it this year at all...

As a matter of fact, we have a kid's track area set aside and I do place kid friendly games in that area and I place games with lighter themes in like areas with similar age categories. I only have 5 adult only games listed so far and I have a bunch of games by Michael Hall that seem like they would be perfect for the tween crowd. The suck of the matter is that I have little control over who decides to run what, but what I do try to do is make entire rooms friendly to age group and theme by putting like games in one space. This way I can have games that would attract younger audiences away from the raunchy more adult themed games. If the game is particularly targeted to pre-teens and younger I put them in the StrategiKids areaout by collectables. Into the Woods, Something Wicked This Way Comes and In Caverns Deep sound like great tween adventures and are my current recommendations for you kurtpotts

By the by, Mike Leader runs the Dresden Fiasco game often at con. Have you tried that one out Kurt?

I just found out that my son and *maybe* my daughter will be joining me for the convention. I'm furiously reading the rules for Hero Kids (and simultaneously trying to come up with a scenario).

Adventure Maximus is an excellent game also.

Can you please do a actual play with kids some day. That is something I think many would like to hear. If you are worried about privacy you can always edit it a bit more than the normal sessions.

Some things have conspired against this trip and we won't be able to make it This year after all. Hopefully we'll get to see everyone in February.
