I'm going to creating a Fate oneshot game based on the Warhammer 40K universe. Just to save many headaches, I'm going to make the characters and let the players choose from them. The plan is to make 10 characters and there is likely to be 5 players. Now I'm only going to have one psyker character, but I want the psyker to at least feel like it belongs in the 40k universe. Which means bad things may happen if they use their powers. But how do I make this in Fate?
While it shouldn't matter, the game is called "Run through the Jungle." And the basic storyline is the characters are part of a reinforcement column of Imperial Guard whose main ship was destroyed in orbit. The characters are those individuals that made it to a thunderhawk that then crashed about 3 days walk on the wrong side of the Imperial Guard battleline. The world they find themselves on is a jungle death/feral world that is being overrun by the forces of Chaos.

Why not make it if they roll all -'s on the dice? Or if that is too rare 3 -'s.
The other option is to just make it an aspect that you compel, I mean for that purpose even a high concept of Imperial Psyker could be compelled to make things go wrong when they use their powers.

My default thought was triggering it if they have more -'s than +'s.

In my experience, that happens a LOT.

Yeah, that will come up a lot. Somewhere around a third of the time I think though I've not done the actual math.

That often? The last few times I've played it didn't seem to happen that often. But on the other hand, it does fit the nature of the setting to have it happen that often. But if I do a curve, with more happening with more -s... that should work.

My evidence is just anecdotal, but it happens a LOT.

But if I do a curve, with more happening with more -s... that should work. The results from 4dF form a bell curve around 0. About a third (I think) of the results will come out as a flat 0 with the rest split evenly between positive and negative
