I picked the F&D Beginner Game up on Wednesday, partly because I wanted to get the Star Wars RPG dice with some cool extra stuff before I get the core rulebook, but also because I want to see about getting some friends and relatives into RPGs, and I think the pre-gens and adventure would be a good way to go.
It's starting to look like I'm getting at least one group together, so I've been reading though the Mountaintop Rescue adventure in preparation and I've wound up casting the characters in my head, not just as visual aids for characters but also as cues to play them distinctly (I like to go a little amateur theatre as a game master). Of course, even though I've not run mountaintop Rescue, I'm already looking at the downloadable adventure, Lure of the Lost, too.
Here's what I've got so far. Have any of you played either of these? Who did you cast as the various characters?
Mountaintop Rescue:
The Gatekeeper: Was going to just play him with an elderly, dry voice, but all of a sudden I'm seeing Sir Ian McKellen as somewhere between Gandalf and Magneto.
The Hunters: The scruffy humans from Battlefield: Earth (I know, I know, but it's still worth it just to watch John Travolta having a ball).
The Mercenaries:
Hethan Romund, humble scholar of Jedi lore: Imelda Staunton
Malefax, maddened Sith devotee: (still not sure)
Lure of the Lost:
The Warden: Helen Mirren.
The Jailor: A jovial Chow Yun-Fat.
Frostwall Villager: Robert Carlyle.
Heavy Gan, Smuggler Lord: Robbie Coltrane.
Pinder Ukka, Rebel Agent: Rufus Sewell.
Heder Brant, Imperial Security Bureau: Mark Gatiss in Mycroft Holmes mode.
Kaina Forrell, Imperial Governor's security chief: Angelina Jolie.
Rav Naaran, insane fallen Jedi: Tempted to cast Idris Elba...
