I think the first one was "Saga of Old City"; that's the one I remember the most.

whoops. Deleted. Sorry if I spoiled anyone on the Mote. Accidentally posted in the wrong window. That's what I get for multi window reading threads.

So I dug The Girl With All the Gifts. Without giving too much away, it was a fast read with some good old-fashioned moral quandaries. It's difficult to stray too far from trope if you've decided to play in the zombie park, but there was enough world building to be a nice backdrop for the characters to work in.
On to Medusa's Web by Tim Powers, and the omnibus of Fight Club 2.

I'm about a third of the way through 'The Name Of The Wind' and it's ok. It leans on some tropes I don't particularly care for and isn't particularly exciting, but it's engaging enough

Oh, what a nice thread!
I just finished the fourth and final book of Designers and Dragons (history of the RPG industry), which I highly recommend. It really focuses in on the companies, and also the people who made the companies, and very much on the games as well and the trends and outside influences. And it's not dry. If you are into RPGs, and especially lots of RPGs, this may be something you're into.
RPG-wise I'm re-reading Golden Sky Stories, now that I've run it twice and have a better idea of how it actually works.
For novel, I'm at the beginning of the second book of the 3rd Thomas Covenant-related series (the modern one). Can't even remember the title. A bit slowish, but I always feel refreshed and happy when I end them, so I'm sticking with it.
And of course Harry Potter, which I never read before, I'm reading with the daughter and wife as bedtime reading. We're on book 6.

Very important to understand where the hobby came from. And congrats on Harry Potter! We've been reading it to our kid at night and are also on book 6.

I tried the most recent Thomas Covenant books. Runes of the Earth etc, right? Couldn't do it.

I love the idea of Thomas Covenant, and I love the first two books of the first trilogy. Anything past that and I start to phase out. I've never read past "part way into the third book of the first trilogy", but I love everything before that point.
And oh, wow, have I wanted to run a game set in The Land.

Oh man, that first book was a nightmare the first time I tried it. "Don't touch me! Don't touch me!" I couldn't stand that whiny motherfucker. But then as I went onwards, I eventually fell in love with the series. That was 15 years ago though. It's kinda hard to get into, cause it's... long winded. But there's a certain soothingness to it, I found.

Recommended by CADave, I read "The Rook" by Daniel O'Malley. It's a modern supernatural detective novel, with an interesting twist. The main character has amnesia, and as the story progresses, she realizes she really doesn't like the person she used to be. Fun book, that now has a sequel, "Stiletto" that I'm starting shortly. (After I get through a couple game books i need to read through to prep for a game)

Our secret listener in Antarctica suggested I read Terms of Enlistment by Markos Kloos. So far, I'm liking it.

Been catching up on games so my novel-reading is lacking. Caught up on Chronicles of Darkness and rereading Apocalypse World 2E (to help with my development) and rereading Savage Worlds Deluxe because I keep screwing up the rules after trying it out for a couple sessions. After all that, I'll need to get back into fiction.
