Do force powers work like skill specialties?
Like I have the skills: Control (Enhance Strength) 2 Alter (Force Jump) 1
Using the example above can use all Control and Alter powers at 0 or do they need to be learned individually?
Second question: Would training with a practice saber give you Melee (Lightsaber) or Melee (Bludgeoning).

1: My guess us they need to be learned individually. They can be used untrained (at -3). The rules also say they can't go above 0 without training, so I imagine one could "train" themselves in a new power to get it at 0, and then need training to go beyond.
2: I would say it adds to Melee (Lightsaber) as long as the character is using the practice saber to do lightsaber-style moves and techniques.

Sooooo... I'm sorry for the thread necromancy....
I'm finally reading Mongoose Traveller and the Star Wars conversion by Bill. My question is, when a force user tries to unlock the 3 Aspects... is the first check always a FOR 8+?

My question is, when a force user tries to unlock the 3 Aspects... is the first check always a FOR 8+? That’s how I read it. In mongoose traveler 2nd ed, if no difficulty is given, you are to assume Average (8+)
