I'm leaning toward calling the contest "Two Sides; One Epic"
Thoughts?

I'm leaning toward calling the contest "Two Sides; One Epic" Thoughts? Always a fan of a "Two Girls, One Cup" joke ... so yes! That could even be a genre category.

* It's about damn time Fray got his butt into the studio to join in! The more he's there, the less time he has to post weird shit in the General forum. Um... thanks...

If I have time I'll totally write a one-shot for this thing you're putting together. Also, somewhere in this episode, a Hunter S. Thompson-esque game was brought up. I thought I'd mention that Bret Gillan is working on a game called Gonzo about people playing drug-using Gonzo journalists getting into over-the-top grindhouse-style situations. He's using the InSpectres rules for the core system (though he's adjusting the mechanics and adding new ones for things like freakouts). He made a post about it here: Gators and CokeIt sounds pretty cool!

Who knew there were so many Hunter S. Thompson fans!
Is it RPGers? Or the chemical abuse of the podcast hosts?

Yeah, I'd be in on the 2 pagers, also. Somewhere I have a list of unused story hooks I've been adding to for years - I'm sure most GMs do... y'know, for those moments when a game suddenly breaks out.

Still in the process of listening to the episode (I'm getting to it late this week due to ACen followed by con crud), but I just have a few preliminary comments:
1. Re: a western game, I haven't tried it myself, but I hear a lot of good things about Aces and Eights.
2. Re: Synnibarr, I actually played it at Winter War last year and had a blast. I wouldn't want to run an extended campaign in it, but it had a certain gonzo charm. At the very least, the setting has things worth grabbing for an over-the-top pulp flavor: what's not to love about flying laser clams and dwarves with phased invisibility as a racial ability?
3. I think the Two-Page Adventure idea sounds great. I'll send an e-mail.

Loved the episode. I am in for the 2pager. Just a thought about the unprepared GM:
Maybe the player should offer to help the GM with prep. I know the Jacks crew has mentioned and experienced coGMing, maybe it would help this guys game!

By the way, you keep bringing up this "mountains of Illinois" thing. As someone who's lived in Illinois virtually all my life, all I can say is that no Illinois native I have ever known would claim that mountains exist in Illinois. I don't know what kind of weird people you were hanging out with here, but rest assured, they'd get weird looks from the vast majority of Illinois natives too!

The only reason I can think of anyone calling anything in Illinois a "mountain" is a nearby ski resort.
