A quick note about the beer at FTC 5. The FTB guys have a very friendly relationship with Danger Brewery, a microbrewery run by a bunch of gamer guys. DB offered to supply the beer and serve it for tips. The convention ticket price includes all the beer and soda you can drink--and I believe DB got some of that. We drank 90 gallons that weekend, with an attendance of around 150 people.

.6 Gallons a person. I definently pulled my weight and then some. I am glad you mentioned the name of the microbrewery, I wanted to look them up. The Chocolate Porter was amazing.

I am not impressed by your level of alcohol consumption.

1 gallon = 128oz .6 gal = 76.8 oz 76.8 oz = 6.4 12-oz bottles You each drank a six-pack? I'm pretty sure each of the hosts drank that just during the recording of the podcast, let alone during the games.

See kids, this is why math is important, so you can realize when you are a beer drinking lightweight!

For the record - having seen AzureTalon drink - I can assure you that he probably carried the load for a few convention-going teetotalers.

That I did, we actually had a teetotaler in our party who I at least made up for.

Yeah, let's not forget that three of the congoers were my wife and two underage kids, none of whom drank any beer. I drank all of theirs, and mine, and some of runester's, and probably a couple other people's as well.
And the chocolate porter was my favorite, definitely.

I was actually wondering that myself, JiB (and Jeb). We've got a tentative date for our convention (XenoCon, May 17-19) and wanted to make sure we didn't accidentally book ours the same weekend as yours.

Actually I was more concerned about competing with Fear the Con - I know Happy Jack events are a big draw, but I really don't think we'd lose as many Midwestern attendees to GameX as we would to a hot St. Louis convention.

Infiltrating an enemy coven? Rubbing it in our faces? Goodness, people! Bring it loud! I've got much love for Stu and Happy Jacks. In fact, it's on a short list of shows that I truly admire for what they bring to the RPG community. It would take me a while to explain why, but in some regards I see this show as the inheritor of a space that's sat empty since DLI went away. To answer some of the specific questions or comments... 1. Danger Brewery was paid in full to create, transport, and serve the beer. The tips were to help them fund additional brewing and thus move forward as a business. We didn't take a dime of that money. 2. The next Fear the Con will be on May 3rd - 4th with the Wing Night on May 2nd. I hope to see you there, along with your storke-ing and Happy Jacks shirts and everything else! In fact, if you walk up to me in a Happy Jacks shirt, I'll buy your lunch right then and there. Enemy coven. Sheesh. Kids these days.

Hey Dan,
Thanks for the comparison to DLI. I consider that quite a compliment.
The two shows that set the high water mark when I got back into the hobby were Fear the Boot and Dragon's Landing Inn. I was very sad when they podfaded (which happened right after I started listening).
