my teacher was a very chill and progressive guy. progressive people existed in the 1990s. i don't know why he was progressive. i just know he was.

Yep, so progressive he adopted "millennial practices" before the actual millennium. My teachers were progressive too, except they insisted on two things - logical argument and actually addressing the questions asked. Crusty old buggers with those points, so forward thinking but sticking their heads ancient world sand when it comes to reasoned thought: following the likes of Plato and Socrates and the like. Silly of them really Aaron

S/he ain't worth it Kainguru mate. No point in arguing logic with a fantasist. I realised yesterday, that there's a simple way of not getting wound up by their creepy posts. I blocked them, not in anger but in sheer boredom. If you do too, if we all do, I won't even have to read their posts quoted in replies.

they weren't called millennial practices at the time. for them to eventually become commonplace as millennial practices, they had to start small with local groups and stuff, 1990's is right before the new millennium, so it makes sense people would start practices towards the early middle of a decade that would become popular in the next.
it takes time for practices to spread. millennials didn't adopt these practices over night, a lot of the practices were around in the 1990s. because the new millenium was overhyped and because people all over the world were doing progressive practices since at least the 1990s, if not earlier.
most trends that are set are not set intentionally, they are set by people who were influenced by mentor figures they liked. i suck at debate and i suck at explaining things.

truth is, my memories are extremely fuzzy, and barely anything coherent, so i try to piece them together, albeit a bit horribly, i know i did RPGs when i was younger, i just don't remember which RPGs i did and when i did them. so i am trying to fill blanks in hindsight, with a fuzzy memory and lousy ability to retain information.

Yeah <sigh> - I'm thinking I have to agree ... there comes a point when it's just not worth the time or effort. I have had to deal with fantasists in real life, I don't need it in my chosen hobby. Don't get me wrong I'm not naive enough to think that the anonymity of the internet doesn't allow certain exaggerations - it's precisely this knowledge that makes me hyper-cynical. Credit where credit is due though. Call me old fashioned, identity politics aside, but for me 'Lolita' is a controversial book not a lifestyle. Hell, I get PTSD from tumblr and deviant art (sans filter) - some of the stuff out there really challenges what, I believed, were my open minded politics. The internet has jaded my base assumptions about humanity, so it's most probably time to practice what I preach 'if thy eye offends thee pluck it out' via-a-vis 'if the internet offends you, block it'. I just hate blocking people ... (with the occasional exception) Aaron

i don't remember when i started playing RPGs and i don't remember which RPG i started with, i am just making assumptions based on memories i cannot coherently remember. because i know and remember nothing about myself and am constantly losing memories of my past. all i know is my family are entirely geeks, that i played RPGs at an extremely young age, and that i know that a lot of my characters were rehashings of a select handful of creepy characters i have been playing as idealized personae since i was really young.
i know i have had the same preference in the character type i play for a long while. i don't even remember how much of my childhood is reality and how of it is a fabrication. in fact, a lot of my stories are exaggerations and embelishments at the very least. i would have been better off saying that i have played characters of a similar aesthetic style for as long as i can remember.

Google result : Now, can we get back to discussing first characters? Aaron yes, we can. thank you. while i can't remember how long i have played RPGs, i have played petite framed waifish young adult women with a height around the ballpark of five feet and a cute but deceptively youthful aesthetic for as long as i can remember. i merely give them different skillsets and i remember my first being a sneaky social character that started as an infiltraton type and she eventually grew to become really skilled at an extremely large amount of tasks.

Just as a heads-up, if you believe Ilina is confabulating, all this is out of his/her control, so maybe we shouldn't tease. I had a family member in bad medical condition begin confabulating. It was terrifying.
Making up shit and claiming it's real is just called "lying."
OTOH, if you think Ilina is simply using this board as another means of roleplaying a character, I'd argue that it's acceptable only if the user is clear about the intent of roleplaying and not attempting to deceive other users. In which case, come clean and PLAY ON!
