In the wake of some of the discussion I've been seeing about the trailer for Ready Player One, I'll admit that the book is a guilty pleasure. It's not masterfully written, it's not thought-provoking. But it's fun.

Just curious because I have seen no opinion one way or another until right now.

Twitter and Facebook. Roughly 2/3 of the people who have expressed an opinion on the movie have done so with vitriolic spite. Then again... roughly 2/3 of the people who have expressed an opinion on the movie are also hipsters. Hmm I may have just had an epiphany.

Ah, that explains it - twitter is so far off my radar it's ludicrous. My account has been hacked and locked for over 3 months before I noticed Aaron

Shatner's spoken word version of Rocket Man. I love the original, don't get me wrong, but this one is just awesomely cheesy. How can one not love it?

In the wake of some of the discussion I've been seeing about the trailer for Ready Player One, I'll admit that the book is a guilty pleasure. It's not masterfully written, it's not thought-provoking. But it's fun. I disagree on the thought-provoking portion. The in-game adventure portions are generally popcorn fodder, but the nature of the post-apocalyptic, corporatist real world has some substance to it. And the way that all the young people were willing to take action, cooperative, and clearly over things like gender or sexuality issues made the book a really hope-inspiring read for me. I thought it was a very poignant mirror to the current opinion of the millenial generation vs what they're capable of.

Have you read the prequel? It kind of mucks with that viewpoint.

For fast food? Taco Bell. I think I have you beat, there: Jack in the Box tacos. Is there anything better, really? Bacon. Cheddar. Potato. Wedges. The king of Jack in the Box junk food.
