SirGuido I guess this is a question for when we get our boards, but will you be posting some descriptions of some notable NPC's so we could build/create connections off of them as well? Just got a message saying they are available so I'll get started on that.

I got the ""4-6 Your ancestor served the clan as a clerk in the Imperial bureaucracy. You may take the Precise Memory Advantage for 2 less points." heritage so I take that and balance it with the ascetic disad so the points even out.
I will update my character sheet soon.

However, the descendants of the samurai they defeated would like a rematch. You gain 1.0 Glory, but also gain a sworn enemy from that clan. (Think I’ll leave that to the GM to spring on me. Advantages: Large (3), Servant: Attendant (5), Strength of the Earth (2) Disadvantages: Missing Limb: Right Arm (6), Consumed: Strength (4) -1K0 to all Etiquette rolls Heritage Sworn Enemy (GM’s choice) Equipment Heavy Armour, Tetsubo, Masakari, Daisho, Travelling Pack, Coin Purse, Sturdy Clothing ‘Court’ Clothing, Spare Kimono and Sandals, Chopsticks, Sake Cup, Bottle of Water, 3 Koku School Techniques: Rank 1: THE WAY OF THE CRAB The Hida bushi is the epitome of ‘heavy infantry,’ able to endure harsh blows and deliver crushing attacks in return. You may ignore TN penalties for wearing heavy armour for all skills except Stealth. When using a Heavy Weapon, you gain a bonus of +1k0 to the total of all damage rolls. Rank 2: THE COLLEGE OF CLARITY The College of Clarity teaches its students to draw on their inner Fire to promote clarity of thought and recall. By meditating for at least one half hour and making a Meditation / Fire Roll against a TN of 15, you gain the Clear Thinker and Precise Memory Advantages for a number of hours equal to your Fire Ring. If you already have either or both of these Advantages, their bonuses are increased by +1k0. Special: A samurai who uses the Clarity of Fire to enhance his focus in iaijutsu may make the same roll, but instead of gaining the Advantage effect, he instead gains a bonus of +1k0 to any one Iaijutsu (Focus) / Void Roll made during the same time period (number of hours equal to his Fire Ring). Questions 1. What Clan? Crab 2. What Family? Hida 3. Bushi, Shugenja, Courtier? Bushi 4. Appearance? Large and lumbering but well-groomed and dressed (for a Crab), mainly thanks to his loyal attendant, Koji. Keeps his hair very short, almost shaven, due to the parallel three scars that run from his scalp down the right side of his head to his missing right arm, which was torn out at the shoulder by an oni. 5. Primary motivation? The Crab need allies and supplies. They must be secured for the good of the Empire. 6. Who do you trust most? Moshi Hidetoshi, sensei of the College of Clarity. Her patience and guidance gave me purpose after my injury. I owe her, and the Centipede, a great deal. 7. Greatest Strength? Strength. We Crab value our brothers, but we are also taught to rely on our strength when darkness crests the Wall. 8. Greatest Weakness? My time on the Wall left little time for reflection or study. My training has left me ill-prepared for court. My time at the College Of Clarity has helped, but it may not be enough. 9. Thoughts on Bushido? Courage and Duty are paramount. 10. Opinion of Clan? The Crab are the Wall that protects the Empire from drowning in an ocean of evil. The other clans often forget they sleep under the blanket of protection the Crab provide. 11. Married? That is what I am here for. 12. Prejudices? Have you stood on the Wall and looked into the very face of horror? Have you? 13. Loyalty? The Crab and the Empire in all things, although I also look favourably upon the Centipede. 14. Most Favourite thing? My mother’s silver locket and chain. 15. Least Favourite thing? Not standing with my brothers atop the Wall. 16. Mannerisms? Gruff and direct. I like to use my hand to illustrate my point. 17. Emotions? It is difficult to contain my frustration with the pointless fripperies of these courts. The language they use often makes my head spin. Can no-one speak plainly? 18. Handling a subordinate? The chain of command must be respected. How else can we stand firm in the face of the enemy? 19. Parent’s description? A dutiful son, who serves the Clan despite his injuries. 20. Highest ambition? To stand with my brothers, defending the Empire. 21. How religious? The Kami are our strength, and the Celestial Order is the foundation of our Empire. 22. How will you die? Well.

Losing his right arm has been hard on Hida Idoru. Unable to now stand with his brothers on the Wall (and secretly bitter about not dying when the oni who took his arm fell to its’ death), Idoru sank into a deep depression. Not skilled enough to act as a sensei or battle strategist, Idoru contemplated seppuku, until his grandfather, Hida Gombei, snapped him out of his black mood by soundly berating and shaming him into approaching the Severed Hand, the Crab’s network of injured bushi turned courtiers. Hiruma Tunari, an old friend of Gombei, judged that Idoru had potential, but needed some time to increase his knowledge and skills. Tunari reached out to Moshi Hidetoshi, an acquaintance and sensei of the College of Clarity, securing a place for Idoru to study there in preparation for his new appointment to the Severed Hand.
Idoru’s time with the Centipede was an eye opener. Whilst he couldn’t believe their complacency and incomplete knowledge about what the Crab face every day, he was intrigued by their focus on clear and logical thinking, something that the Crab have little time to develop. As he was drawn into their teachings, Idoru’s attitude improved, mainly due to his growing friendship and respect for Moshi Hidetoshi. Eventually, Idoru was ready to join his brothers in the Severed Hand. Idoru’s new-found clarity of thinking lead him to a realization. He knew first hand that the Crab need numerous resources for their unending war against the Shadowlands and like it or not, the support of the other Clans is required to provide this. So he wrote to his Clan Champion, proposing that he tour the other Clans, using his appearance and experience on the Wall to put what the Crab face in front of the Empire, so it could not be denied or ignored. The Great Bear was, while not dismissive, not entirely encouraging either, but his son Hida Sukune gave Idoru the go-ahead. After all, Sukune supposed, where’s the harm in trying?
Since then, Idoru has been travelling across Rokugan with his faithful attendant Koji, mainly targeting the influential Crane and militaristic Lion. Thus far, he has not met with a lot of success. The Crane are largely uninterested (with the exception of the Daidoji) and the Lion have little interest in anything outside of their role as ‘the Right Hand of the Emperor’. However, Idoru has managed to secure an invite to a Lion winter court where there will also be a Crane delegation present. Mindful of his age (and the fact that his grandfather has not arranged one yet), Idoru has also let it be known that he is seeking a spouse, in the hope that a decent and influential match can be made with either Clan. While his own preference is perhaps elsewhere, Idoru’s duty is clear.
