first time returning to DCC in a while and i think i went overboard with Developing Level zero characters of which at least a Pair are Likely to die. i hear it is a common tradition to not assign a name, gender or basic history to your level Zero character until they reach 2nd or 3rd level? is this true? did i go overboard with building the characters?
i am so accustomed to game masters who expect fully fleshed out characters that i don't know much better. people who expect a paragraph or two of backstory, so i kind of did that for each level 0 out of habit, only to be recommended by the GM to not worry until my characters survive the funnel. and that he is fine with this current instance of story.

I think that would take some of the fun out of it for me. What am I supposed to yell in a mournful wail when one dies? "Oh, alas, Nondescript PC 1.3, your time was too soon!" That just doesn't work for me.

Much of your backstory comes from that initial 'funnel'. So a backstory that doesn't quite go as far as a normal 1st level PC would be expected - i.e.: name, gender, family. Aaron
