Hey Stu Venable I don't know if this will matter to you at all but I figured I'd point it out. I found a mechanic called Moment of Truth (also abbreviated as MoT) in an RPG called Tenra Bansho Zero. I don't think there are any legal ramifications for using a term that already showed up in a different game, unless it somehow happened to be copyrighted or trademarked or something, but I figured I'd point it out in case it's of some interest to you.

What do the rpg book say about copyright? Does it mention the mechanics or the names of mechanics in any way?

I've never seen any mention of copyrights in RPG books other than the stuff mentioned on the... I'm not sure what it's called, the Credits page? at the very beginning of a book. Those tend to only mention game names and brand-related stuff though, I'd be really surprised if the term "Moment of Truth" or any of the rules related to it were directly copyrighted. Though I guess if Stu's Moment of Truth mechanic worked exactly the same way that could be an issue. I just figured I'd mention it in case Stu had something to say on the matter.

Tenra Bansho Zero is a Japanese language RPG that was translated for English speakers, so that mechanic was not called "Moment of Truth" it was translated to be that. Don't know if that matters or not.
