Is every listener from Australia a complete fucking asshole? I understand that word isn't a big deal in your country, but in the U.S. its use is beyond the pale. One of the rules of communicating it know your audience. When you email the podcast the majority of your audience is going to be from the U.S. Of course you all know all of this already. It the only possible explanation for going out of your way to use the word as much as possible. You're not being funny, edgy, or showing how much of prudes we all are. You're just being assholes. Why social skills? because, sometime you don't want to spend 30 minutes of your 4 hour session talking to a guard. You just want to see how the resolves, and move on. Yes, you could say the same thing about some combats, and some sytems have ways to quickly resolve those situations as well. Wow. And here I thought I was the only one who said stupid stuff when he was angry. But I only made two people mad at me, not an entire country.

This might sound strange but, after watching the show on YouTube, I had a dream that stork shaved off his beard and hair for Movember? (Which, in the context of the dream, I thought was a bit extreme). Aaron Wonder what brought that on... To be honest, I think it's because I did wonder if he secretly enhances it's colour - after all, the beard has grey (and mine is about to face the chop for Movember). As a side note stork was 'on the mark' with his observations . . . especially when he 'pulled back the focus' of the interpretation of the question ... it is also very much about managing two different groups. We've previously had entire nights when hardly a die was rolled and nearly the entire session was spent dicking around in the local Tavern with the players just 'playing their characters'. Not every NPC is a side quest . . . and not all victories should be counted by the number of corpses. Also as an aside, even 'back in the day' I always gave full XP for encounters overcome . . . whether by bypassing cleverly, using trickery or negotiation. The XP, I always felt, was for overcoming the the encounter in pursuit of the goal rather than simply as an exercise in a systems combat mechanics and martial superiority. Aaron EDIT: All Movembered up :/ (my face feels cold)

Pints who made the request for the Australians to bring their colourful use of language to the show in an email- awhile ago I'll admit, but I've been busy - and he's a Yank. Besides stork actually used the word much earlier in the show - no eyelids batted? As to 'social skills' - how the fuck did that one slip thru? I'm sure <ponders> it's one of those official 'dead horse' topics ... no one is ever going to agree on that one: we've got flames wars of forums past to prove that (and no one agreed then). SirGuido: will you be adopting (temporarily) the moniker SirGuidoFawkes in honor of our 5th of November? I know it means nothing to the USA but we got bonfires and fireworks and everything from New Zealand to Australia to the UK (do Canadians celebrate Bonfire night?) Aaron PS: I’m going to admit here, I’ve fudged the dice in favour of sprog. The adult players know I have, because I’ve always ‘fessed up to them afterwards (when sprog has gone to bed). They’re cool with it, the most experienced player has even said that he’ll ‘take the hit’ if needs be ie: if a death is demanded, and sprog hasn’t done something overtly deserving of death, sacrifice his character rather than sprogs (he’s got a folder of backup characters ready to rock n roll) ‘causing nothing bums out the night like a sprog bereft of his PC. (Shit, have I gone soft?)
