There are entire regiments of all female imperial guard. Remember that there are entire planets that exist for the sole purpose of pumping out Imperial Guard regiments, and those planets don’t just export men. No idea if these units are underrepresented in the figs, but they exist in universe.
As to the speculation about female players and tyranids, maybe its because space bugs are awesome and overall not gendered? It must get tiresome to have things shoved at you because people think they know what you want. “You’re a girl, here, play the girl army!” Also, Orcs breed from spoores, so they aren’t sexually dimorphic. Further, I’m sure eldar have female figures (since their heroes in games like Dawn of War II tend to be female).

Wait, is HyveMynd still allowed to weigh in on Savage Worlds? I thought there was a Moriarty-um… a smarty-tarty-um… a moratorium on that!

Is there? I thought that expired. I sure hope so, as Savage Worlds poo-pooing is like 50% of my posts here and a large chunk of my Twitter feed.

I've never even tried the system, and I always enjoy a non-vicious flame war, so I've got no horse in this race. However, I'll learn SW so I can run you through a one-shot next time we meet for drinks.

I liked Tyranids the best because they were the most... like... flexible to paint. The Tyranid book even said "ehhh, paint em whatever colour you want, here's like a dozen colour schemes we like but we don't care go nuts" and so I went nuts. I eventually mostly settled on kind of a brown and green kinda vegetable-y motif but that was only if I was making a whole bunch of them at once for my own collection (I used to paint for other people who would buy me Tyranids as payment). I had purple ones, these super cool ones I made to look like they were made of lava, a bunch of really eye-bleeder ones, a couple that looked like they had pooped some metal... good times.

Yeah, GW wrote themselves into a corner when they decided to make the Space Marines "no girls allowed" and the Adepta Sororitas more or less a single chapter of warring units. As other factions with female figurines tend to be either Slaanesh, Lord of skimpy outfits; or merely subscribe to their design philosophies; there's just not that many cool options for sisters of tabletop that wish to collect, paint and play a badass power fantasy, without it being filtered through the male gaze. As the A.S. remain unpopular, they fall behind in rule and model upkeep. Just getting hand on the figurines themselves is a task better suited for a collectors will and wallet, than a curious gal wanting to break into the hobby. (Not to mention how the Adepta Sororitas' zealot inquisition schtick is being fetishized as BDSM-nuns by other parts of the fanbase, when they're not busy rolling dice to see if they have the "Red Rage"-bonus, as you do.) I've seen a fair amount of women playing Tyranids, though I dunno if it is due to the matriarchal hierarchies of insect species being referenced to their faction, concept feedback from Starcraft's Queen of Blades or mere coincidence; I know waaaaay to little about them... ...I know way to little about any of this really; I don't even play 40K! This god damn game keep sucking you in! To be honest not all hobbies are interesting for both sexes. I believe that hobbies like minature trains and minature battle simulation are mostly men because of interest not because of sexism. BUT GW could do with more female characters. But don't change the established 40k lore, in stead make something new. Rpg's was started as a battle simulation and when it evolved in to a more social game more women became interested. The Sisters of Silence are another chapter - and boy do they fuck up psykers. Aaron
