I was thinking of the discussion on a previous episode in regards to dividing up LA for vampiric control, and how the easiest way would be to look at how the political map/commissioners are divided up. I think the discussion also ran over to running a game set somewhere you're unfamiliar with, be it London, London Ontario or Ontario California.
I started thinking about it because there are a lot of Youtube driving videos that might help you fill out details for areas. Right now, I'm watching a video of someone driving First Street in LA. The thing that strikes me is how much driving you will do before those skyscrapers really begin making progress towards you. Same way with Chicago. Just driving and driving.
It's my new random hobby, these videos, like the time lapse from Chicago to Seattle. Or, my personal favorite, watching a camera in downtown Lagrange KY, and constantly seeing people run a four-way stop while coming from the right. Always the right.
Anyway, might be a useful idea for someone.

Also useful: Google Street View is increasingly ubitquitous, and many locations have 360º interior views available.

Another really awesome resource is the GM's Real World Reference available on DTRPG for only 12.00 USD. It's got some great write-ups for Places, People, and Events that actually exist or existed, all in a fluff-only manner that makes it completely system agnostic.

I still think (I dunno if anyone will remember me mentioning the idea, it's been at least 5 years now) that we ought to make ourselves into a sort of living library of interesting game reference material. For example, I as a security professional and former armoured car guard, could offer insight on stuff like access control systems for office towers (*coughcoughcoughRILEY*) or how an armoured car crew might react to an attempt to rob them or sieze the truck. Conversely, I could offer some ideas for people to get PAST an access control system. Stuff like that. Everyone knows something about something other people don't think about.

I think Forresst just outted himself as a contact for a Shadowrun game... ... or a Lone Star plant.

...I as a security professional... Interesting. I work in therapy with a specialization in people with lack of confidence. I'm...wait for it... an insecurity professional. (no, I'm not, but wanted to make the pun anyway)

@seikuro lol Apologies on my mess-up. Purely unintentional.

Haha no problem. I used to be really worried about putting the symbol up at all, things can be a tad dicey if you let yourself be known as a woman. I'm actually kinda glad when it gets overlooked! But I also don't like how awkward stuff gets when someone assumes I'm a dude for a long time and then eventually finds out. People get weirdly offended.

Haha, you said "dicey" in an RPG forum.
