Binged it over two days. Love the series and it's already confirmed for season 2. I will admit up front I haven't read the books. They're on my list, but I haven't gotten the chance yet. They're getting pushed to the top now. Love the themes, the technology, the societal and moral implications of it. Definitely makes me want to do some more Cyberpunk games or Eclipse Phase.
I'm not usually a big fan of Joel Kinnaman, but I actually liked him as Takashi. James Purefoy was amazing as always. The rest of the cast was was equally impressive.
What is everyone else's thoughts?

Not watched it yet but it's on my list. I've read the books so will be interested to see how they compare. Only concern is that just time I reread the series they hadn't held up too well since they first came out so hoping the show doesn't have the same feel.

I've liked Kinnaman ever since he was the least-bad part of Suicide Squad, and the 2nd-least-bad part of the Robocop reboot.
I'm only 5 eps in, but the show is hewing closely to the books from what I remember. There's the hotel's identity being changed from Hendrix to Poe, which I'm fine with. There's something about Quell not having been a direct contact with Kovacs, but I didn't remember that — someone had to remind me.
Really, really liking it though.

Watched through ep 7 tonight. It's pretty great. I was not happy with the extended fight sequences, which seemed more comic-booky than previously portrayed in the show. I also don't remember what happens in ep 7 as being the same as the book, but there are no spoilertags here so I'll wave off any further description.
Still: WOW

I've heard some criticism on the acting, but honestly, I've found it from totally decent to actually pretty good. It follows the story fairly closely, in a good way, and with great visualizations. The Rei storyline is very different between the book and TV show, but it doesn't come off in a negative way, considering.
Overall, just so much great eye candy, but with enough substance to hold it up very well.

Yeah, I'm… um, well, I'm also surprised at the amount of nudity. As a kid, I never expected I'd ever see this much skin on television. Kinnaman has a nice enough butt and abs to die for, though I'm more thoroughly happy that Dichen Lachmann and Martha Higareda signed on for this much exposure.

Personally, I love the nudity. It feels somewhat true to the books (more so than a show that skipped all that or made it super-fade-to-black), and I love that there's swinging sausages mixed in with the obviously more female nudity. I love that the street prostitutes include a dude, and there are dudes a plenty up on the cloud-in-the-sky place. It just feels less like they're doing it exploitatively, and more that they're actually having an eye to the book and to what it would actually look like in that future, without adhering modern TV standards.
