StrangeLikeThat You made a huge change for step sideways Werewolves are suppose to travel physically to this parallel dimension and they do not fly. This will change a lot, almost all gifts for the Umbral. If you weren't ready you could have told them they don't know how yet. They weren't trained. The first training is usually to travel to the penumbra

Look, I get you’re a rules lawyer and all, but the bottom line is that I’m telling the story. The book LITERALLY says the storyteller can make changes as they see fit. There is a fuck ton of lore, mythos and layers to the Umbra and Penumbra. Chen doesn’t know what realm he’s moved into (which, surprise, isn’t the full Umbra) and that is MY choice. Love it or hate it, I make that call.

I never say you can't. Maybe because English is not my native language and I never went to an English school and only one class. I even have a plug-in while writing to correct me "Grammarly" and I made three errors. When I talk to English speaker here in Canada I never heard any of them assuming this but over the net when the US chat this happen quite often. Why didn't you assume instead I wasn't a "rules lawyer" and just reacting that Chen ask to Step Sideways and you never mentioned before any change? It was just an observation and help. Nothing to force oppugn. I took the time to find you a free ebook and good video.

Nothing to force oppugn. I took the time to find you a free ebook and good video. That’s the thing: I can find eBooks and videos all day long. To come and tell me how the Umbra works and say if I didn’t know to not do it tells me you assume that I don’t know what I’m doing, which is not the case. I have researched the Umbra. I also know that Chen’s character struggles to make contact with spirits and other planes. I am letting him take baby steps into a bigger understanding because it’s good for his character and I am weaving the story I want to. It was a conscious, purposeful decision to let him essentially astral project into a middle world. If you want to be helpful maybe ask me some questions. Like, “hey, Mac, you did something different with the Umbra I haven’t seen before. Was it intentional? I like how they lay out the lore in the W20 book myself” instead of bombarding me with telling me how it’s “supposed” to work. I get there is a language barrier, but you have to know by now I run things a little differently. I am still learning the system, but sometimes I also make a conscious choice to change things because I think it will be more interesting.

"say if I didn’t know to not do it tells me you assume that I don’t know what I’m doing"
I see that's huge cultural difference

I thought it was really neat the way Chen astral projected into the Umbra, and made perfect sense with his struggling with the spirit side of his nature.
