Really liking the work, Zas. I had to double-check on the Kitsune quote because I'd always associated it with Dojo Raiden of the Yoritomo, but you're right. Also, I'm not sure if it's still current in the later eras, but Tsuruchi are also specifically Emerald Magistrates to a man under the Emerald Champion, which adds to their fearsome reputation. Hope I'm not sounding nitpicky Just trying to help out with details where I can that might be useful or relevant.

Yeah, Tsuruchi was giving me problems because they're both bounty hunters and law-lovers, which to my mind sounds very different, but I'm always in a Star Wars Bounty Hunter-frame of mind, which is not correct for L5R. I didn't see much on Emerald Magistrate, but I could see it. Do you have a source for that? I try to only pull from the books if I can.

I thought the same for the Akodo, but I read this from the Great Clans, 4e: Well actually I can see that. My mind always goes to Taoism for "religion" as opposed to anything else in Rokugan, but in actuality there is that plus worshiping the fortunes/kami and also worshiping ancestors. (Lords of Death enter in here as well for the Moto)

I didn't see much on Emerald Magistrate, but I could see it. Do you have a source for that? I try to only pull from the books if I can. Before the Tsurushi merged into the Mantis, they were the Wasp Clan. Page 100 of Way of the Minor Clans. And actually, you're not too far off about the Star Wars bounty hunter thoughts. The Wasp clan were founded by a child of a Scorpion father and Lion mother, so these guys are infinitely practical. It's an interesting tale of betrayal, revenge, and then throwing himself in service to the Emerald Champion, less than fifty men. It's a good read because it also covers why they don't use or even carry katanas, because wearing a daisho doesn't make one honorable. And also, they don't go around just being cops. They are bloodhounds, with an insane skill at tracking and even more at archery (when you have a school technique that allows you to no longer roll to hit with an arrow, I'd say that's pretty pinnacle.) EDIT: also, on the bounty hunting, the only part of law they really care about is if a daimyo declares a person a criminal and puts a bounty out, they go after them. And only for the bounty. They don't care about guilt or innocence - just fufilling the contract.

It would be good if you put the actual clan name at the top of each table. The only reason I know the last group are Dragon is because of Akavidar's comment. You mean the tiny Dragons in all the mons didn't help? As you said, the dragons are tiny...therefore hard to decipher on a small screen, smart arse.
