How effing big is Kazuki's black board? Is he wearing a sandwich board or something?
I have provided care to people with similar physical impairments and carrying on a conversation like occurred with the Dymio would be a more awkward and stilted affair, with the person writing taking the time to think of the minimum number of words they need to get the point across.
Stork chose a significant disad and I don't think he is playing up to it with those long rambling conversations.

As far as I know, he doesn't need the blackboard to talk to Ichiro, just to others. He uses sign language to talk to Ichiro, which gives him flexibility as long as Ichiro wants to translate for him. I'm okay with cutting out the middle man of Dave having to relay every word as long as Ichiro would faithfully replicate what Kazuki is saying. If Ichiro wants to "adjust" Kazuki's language or even not translate for him, then we really do need to talk about blackboard size.

Stork chose a significant disad and I don't think he is playing up to it with those long rambling conversations. The main problem here isn't Stork's character, it's Stork. Stork is going to talk, the only way to stop him would be to gag him. This is a good disad for a character, just not one of Stork's characters. I had to return to edit this, I love stork and regard him as an essential part of Happy Jacks. I listen raptly to his tangents, rants and raves. Which is why I don't think he is well suited to play a mute character.

I agree. Maybe if Stork tries talking to Ichiro in shorthand he would get a more realistic feel for just how affecting a disability like this really is.

Totally agree. If he would talk like "We need silent fast in" instead of "We maybe can sneak in if we disguise ourselves and be quiet", it would be more of a disadvantage. Come to think of it, maybe Kimi could just selectively "misunderstand" him once in a while...
