So the only reason I am posting this is because its been running around my head for a few days and I need to talk about it! I want a good Mecha style game. I loved Pacific Rim and I feel like the Drift would be a rad mechanic in a RPG game. Something were you have 2 people roll together and depending on how close the numbers are is how well your Mech responds. I think the PbtA system would work really well for this since GM's are already used to limited success vs complete success and the narrative style would be fun. So... I'm not sure I want to commit to trying to write a fan hack, but do any of you have fun ideas for moves or mechanics for something like this? I would love to hear suggestions from people more familiar with the PbtA system. Calling... jazzisblues HyveMynd hoobuk and anyone else who loves PbtA.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a Pacific Rim, or Battletech hack. I will ping the greater brain trust to see if they know of anything.

I think there is a mech hack somewhere. Let me see if I can find it.
Also, I believe there's an Apocalypse World playbook for a mech user. Might be something to build off of.

But... How can you have a Powered by the Apocalypse game when you're cancelling the Apocalypse?

Atlas Reckoning is DOPE. I've run it over half a dozen times, and always had great games. It's mainly written by Stras, who is also heavily involved in Blades in the Dark (BitD), including being a big part of Scum and Villainy (the sci-fi hack for BitD which should be coming in short order). I wouldn't call Atlas Reckoning a PbtA hack because it's so far removed from that, and honestly I'm not sure what of it'd DNA comes from that at all, other than using playbooks / archetypes. It's playing-card based as far as mechanics, and actually quite crunchy during the Engagement (combat) phase, but quite story-game during the Downtime phase. I can't recommend it enough... except that it's also not really available in any form other than private beta right now. Stras was going to Kickstart it this year in April but instead got busy with other gaming matters, so it's been delayed. But again, if you are interested, you could post about it up on the community page. This was the actual play recording of a game for Big Bad Con 2017, which includes our jazzisblues !

My friend Kyle on another community is trying to create a Mecha game using World of Dungeons as the base. World of Dungeons is the simplified hack of Dungeon World, so it'll be PbtA-lite-ish. You can check out some of his videos at www.youtube.com/user/wiegraf9009. Specifically here is where he starts the process, but keep in mind this is very recent, so it still has distance to go:
