I'm not going to spoil anything but I had to jump on here to praise stork for tonight's episode. I was internally screaming at you all night to be a yojimbo and issue a challenge. Then you totally blind sided me and made a fantastically poignant and truly honorable samurai move. Kudos sir, well done.

Tonight's game was fucking Bad! Ass! (And not just the ending.) So much so that I was pretty much screaming at you guys in my mind "Stop talking about random bullshit and go back to the damn game you bastards I want to know where this shit is going!!!" Also, YES, back to 4E! As if I needed more reasons to be chomping at the bit for you guys to resume this campaign in... a few months?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! hhmmm maybe I'll have a re-listen to the original campaign....

I know this is a moot point since you're going back to 4E, but one of the biggest things you missed in combat tonight was the athletics roll to defend against the wounds(fatigue). The attacked person makes an Athletics roll TN1 with a ring of their choice, If they succeed they remove one wound(fatigue) per success from the attack. Any criticals are then targeting the ring that they used to defend with. So, any time they use that ring after that, its at a penalty. This is how their version of the wound chart in 4E works.

Stork, in winter snow locked countries there was no transmission of supplies over winter. The roads were impassible and in many occasions you would not even be able to find the road. Also maps were extremely abstract. They showed the linkages between towns with absolutely no topographical detail. That was why harvest was so much work. Not just to gather it, but also to distribute the goods before winter.

FUCK YEAH! Stu Venable for the Battle Without Honor or Glory... I think the schemer tone of cadave made for an interesting moment but “of the three of us who has the most experience” question was allowed to go too long in the hands of a Crab... Also shenanigans Stu Venable for allowing schemer activity to happen without checking in with the one samurai who would be the most vigilant about the taint... It made for wonderful drama but I think a legit discussion of player agency could come out of this...this why APs can be totally awesome! “I want you to tell me the truth and that is all I need...” Brilliant stuff.

Also kudos for letting “help a player” die. Total immersion breaker for all concerned.

And stamina checks? As a retired crab fisherman three days without sleep and you’re quickly into hallucination mode. Sleeping on a moving pony not exactly refreshing. Man I missed well actuallying the shit out of this place 🤓.... As much fun as everyone seems to be having with PvP may I suggest a game of Paranoia gritty rules.👿 Finally stork... Wow man. Just wow. Well done.

Stu's rendition of 1941's theme reminded me of another movie. I wracked my brain for a day then popped over to you tube and found that the soundtrack to Stripes was very similar.

This episode was very much an experiment for me. I'm not usually the slack message scheme guy at table top RPGs. I'm glad it seems like people liked it! I can't wait to see how the return to this same character goes when his life is ruined due to his hubris.

Although I personally think you should have walked away with some "corruption"(insert eyeroll here), I still think Ichiro knows he fucked up bad. It lost him his closest friend. That's gotta mess with you.

Hmmm. So on the advice of D.T. Pints, I sucked it up and binged these five episodes. I’m pretty ambivalent about the new attempt at L5R by FFG, so I’ll leave that aside for now. So, I can see why Stork decided to have his character commit suicide, but I’m not convinced it was awesome. From what I could tell, his character has thrown his life away to destroy a weapon that could have just been put in the fire, so his sacrifice was, well, a bit selfish. Samurai in L5R don’t just throw their lives away for each other because it belongs to their daimyo. Of course, there’s also the possibility that the character has just made a blood sacrifice to a tainted weapon..... 😉😀. However, it’s happened, so the remaining characters have to deal with the fallout, so that should be interesting. The game desperately needs a courtier, but please not you, stork. A courtier player kind of needs to know the setting!😁 Personally I think a Suzume Bushi would be the best fit for someone so loquacious. And don’t take any disadvantage that prevents you from talking! Your RP style is too garrulous for that! 😊

And don’t take any disadvantage that prevents you from talking! Your RP style is too garrulous for that! 😊 My concern was if I didn't hold onto the blade in the fire the cursed weapon might call out or invade another weapon or person. By holding onto it I made sure it was destroyed, even if the demon inhabiting the blade affected me, the closest and weakest person near him. I was mentally exhausted after all. And as to setting. What setting are you speaking of? Feudal Japan? Because this isn't really Japan. The ones in the L5R books? The lore and maps classes clans and even abilities changed from edition to edition. If you are talking about the setting Stu, Kimi, Dave, and myself are creating together, than we will see what is happens because Stu is also taking liberties with "established" settings as well. Not that I want to play a courtier hunting demon weapons, spending my time in staterooms discussing politics while sizing up enemies and guessing motivations sounds tedious, but I may make something more cerebral. A scholar or monk perhaps.
