portersportfolio.wordpress.com/2018/04/04/the-rpg-basket-case-setting-challenge/I came up with the idea in the link above. (It's my blog.) Basically it's using a collection or box of assorted books, a basket case, to write/ come up with a setting. I had the idea when I watch a car restoration show. Some times a car comes in called a basket case. Meaning all the part are in boxes and it's up to the mechanic to restore it. So basically I'm thinking that you'd get a friend to get you, or buy online, a set of books. Then create a setting out of it. In example: I search ebay for a "lot" of books and find a collection. Included is: Vampire Masquerade clan book Star Wars Imperial guide book Villain codex like book for a supers game Dungeons and Dragons book on gods So by putting those together we could end up with space game. Where vampires are becoming a threat as they have vast ships and kind thrive in the cold of space. Some humans have been imbued with the power of the gods. Sent forth to by the god emperors to wage war on vampire kings. Using their newly found super powers. So it'd be a good way to expand your horizons and creativity. Also a good way to use old books that no one wants. So what do you guys think?

That would actually be an interesting way to put together a convention game, theme-wise. I would stick to a single base system for the game and use a random assortment of books to make the theme.

I hadn’t thought about convention games! Very interesting idea. In my blog post I did think of using like savage worlds or GURPS for the core system. So I agree, the theme would all be by the random books but the system would be picked.
