Absolutely brilliant, especially the wizard / traitor / academic character roles.

I believe that's "Trader," not "Traitor"!
Speaking of which, Stu, I had a discussion with a friend of mine as to whether the trader was supposed to be from the Warhammer "Rogue Trader" game. So ... is he?

I was thinking the Trader is in a Traveller game.

I came up with the concept and the shot list a couple months ago. Then I just waited until I had a free day, which was Sunday. Maybe an hour shooting and four or five hours editing. Sweet! Feel like it was worth the time investment? What would you do differently?

I was thinking the Trader is in a Traveller game. That's what I thought too, but my friend said that Traders in Rogue Trader tend to have a "Renaissance Merchant Prince meets Spanish Main Pirate" look, which definitely describes the guy in the video.

I was thinking Traveller, but I was also thinking a sort of modern version of a Renaissancey merchant prince -- in hindsight, I should have put my faire duds on ...

Feel like it was worth the time investment? What would you do differently? Was it worth the time? Yes. I consider myself very much a DIY'er, and making my own music videos is on my "to-learn" list. I learned a lot doing it -- about shooting and editing. If I had it to do over again, I would have re-shot the scene in the studio where I'm playing guitar. That was shot months ago, and I was still fiddling with the exposure and autofocus settings on the camera. I would also take more time with the shooting of the rest of it, as I think I could have got the exposure/lighting between the five characters more consistent. I mostly did it to see if I can. I just need to figure out how to use the fades in final cut...

I believe that's "Trader," not "Traitor"! See now that makes more sense. Obviously my hearing was totally not working last night as I listened to the video twice and heard traitor each time.

Otherwise you've got varying levels of ambient light, and it changes so significantly over the course of even a few hours. Your short film time was excellent to cut down on that quite a bit, though. The lighting changes weren't distracting, or even particularly evident between 'players'. Guess the other challenge would be getting other 'actors' to cooperate with what you've got in your head when you're shooting another video. Looking forward to your next success! <3

Re the lighting differences, I didn't even notice them. Even now that I know to look for them, it's easy to chalk them up to the different positions of the "players."
And as for the different film quality of the computer-and-guitar shots, here I thought you were being artsy! :-D
