Gah! Since we set it in 1992 it’s a year too early for The Cranberries. Nooooooo! I have some serious thinks on this topic... Having downloaded/listened to over 300 "hits" from 1991 and 1992, I was left with a 'whaaa, really?' feeling that ran deep. Surely my musical peoples were not the desolate wasteland of garbage (not Garbage) that I was mostly listening to? (Not totally, but yeah, musical tastes and all, this was rougher than I anticipated. Don't get me wrong, there are some freaking gems there <3, but overall, stuff was missing.) So after adding a bunch of goth/alt/punchy/iconic shit from the before-times of our game, I decided that, for my musical sanity, our Monsterhearts game is an amazing present-day tv show set in 1992, streaming on some kick-ass network, and therefore, I could include smatterings of cool shit if it spoke to me for the game, scene, character. Ultimately, unless the music is diegetic, I figured I could be listening and enjoying with my modern ears if it's helping me get into/be in character. |

Max listens to all the stuff I hated. Mettalica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pantera. Yes, Pantera. Yeah, that is awful. Like why would anyone enjoy that? That's how I can make Max so unhuman, because I can't imagine human ears thinking this is good music. (Want to be clear that I totally appreciate the suggestion and don't mean to yuck your yum if you like this music! And I really appreciate the suggestion because it really helps the character! So thank you!) |

I was trying to think of quintessential angry dude music from the 90's and Liar is at the top of that list. Unfortunately it's '94 This I can dig. I worked with Henry Rollins a couple years ago. He's super cool, and my co-workers thought he was crushing on me. So it's weird watching him now after that experience. But this song is great for Max. If anyone else has suggestions please post! I love Silent Lucidity, November Rain and If I Close My Eyes Forever. Basically metal ballads. But I could use some more for a playlist. |

C+C music factory dropped “Thing that make you go hmm...” AND “Gonna Make You Sweat”
Prince and The New Power Generation had “Cream”
Boys II Men had “Motownphilly”
Chris Isaak had “Wicked Game”
All the above belong in the soundtrack.
But I see Oliver listening to “Freedom 90” by George Michael on a cassingle in the car, telling Everett to rewind to the start frequently. Or it’s on a mixtape with U2’s “Mysterious Ways” and REM’s “Losing My Religion “
