So EricaOdd had a great thought going on in another thread and that conversation makes me wonder "what is a Pantheon?" I mean if there is a Music Pantheon, what about a God like Media (ala American Gods) who would have those gods subordinate to her... at least in regards to the way it is consumed by the masses and not necessarily the 'art' of music. Two Pantheons with different status' for the same God? I would personally still like to see a Pantheon playbook/something new/ that binds them all together. Maybe it's a way to funnel worship to them at better conversion rates... I don't know why, as a God, I would deal with Gods that I did not want to (barring Fate pulling me to them, and even then that would be my goal is to cut those strings)

In the Demigids one-shot that Kimi ran on Saturday, set in the 1920s, Jason ran a character who was the son of Radio. So yeah sure there certainly can be a Media or Entertainment pantheon.

Right, but the Son of Jazz might be claimed by two different Pantheons, say the aforementioned Media of the New Gods and the Entertainment Pantheon of Musics. Sure parentage may come into play, but a demigod can be adopted into another Pantheon, switching side essentially, but what about being in two different Pantheons at the same time?
So as an example, let's use Aphrodite; who is thought to be the amalgamation of several deities of Love/Fertility/War, so could her status be in several Pantheons?
so the question, what is a Pantheon? Why is one group of gods a Pantheon? I have always pictured a Pantheon like a majorly dysfunctional family with the ability to bend reality

I mean the original definition of a Pantheon would be how a society attempts to rationalize and compartmentalize what they perceive. That was easy when peoples were split by time and distance, not as much now. Also, our concepts of mythological pantheons is a bit of a retrospective, our attempt to understand how they interacted with their gods. For example, in Bath, England, the Celts worshiped a water goddess, Sulis. When the Romans came, Sulis was combined with Minerva to make Sulis Minerva, patron god of the Baths in England. Does this mean Minerva and Sulis Minerva were the same goddess or different goddesses? Hard to say, given the depth of time.
If we were to bring that to modern times, if we had a Media pantheon, you'd see the infinite fractal of media. Do you focus on the medium itself? Would Movies be a god? Do you worship that by watching movies or making movies? Instead, maybe you focus on the aspects of media. So Journalism would be a God, regardless if it's from newspaper, TV, Internet, etc. Would it be broken any further? Yellow Journalism would be the evil god and Investigative Journalism would be the good God? Maybe it's by genre? Documentaries being a formless god, just sounding like David Attenborough?
With your example of Jazz, I think you'd see the same god with many forms, depending on how you're approaching them. If you think of the god as part of Media, the god would be more grandiose, wanting more people to listen. They'd want to be in a recording studio getting the next song out. On the other hand, if you think of the god as part of Music, the god would be more introspective, making music for the sake of it. They'd be comfortable in a dark club basement with a dozen people listening.
