Shit. OK, I was thinking of different colonial times...more like late 1700s?
Sorry, got a little U.S> centric with my thought of what people would understand "colonial" to mean...

I have to agree with some of the sentiment about the episode, although there was one word that made my mind starting jogging and sweating like a fat man who just found out that an all you can eat buffet opened down the street:
Clockpunk
Holy crap. My mind exploded and reformed with sooooooooo many ideas.
So I am conflicted. Did I like the episode? Or did I just value one part very highly? I don't know. I think what it means is that an episode like that should not be a constant, but is not unwelcomed.
Also, I want to thank Stu for taking a risk and changing things up. It's risk taking like that and a willingness to change that has made this show what it is today. Personally I will never frown upon taking risks.

I was listening to this today. I kind of agree with everyone else, but not so stringently. I mean it wasn't the standard fare, and I definitely think the addition of one more host would have helped that. There was less inter-host banter than normal, and I think that was a big part of the weirdness for me. Great info, and its got my mind roiling with ideas for steampunk costume stuff. Also, I wish they had spent more time talking rpgs instead of pushing all topics into costumey stuff.

Steampunk is a setting I really enjoy ( as evidenced by one of my submissions in 2 Sides 1 Epic. As the League of Steam said, chuck in a dirigible and you're halfway there!). I enjoyed the episode, and will be checking out the Web series. As for steampunk games, I really enjoyed Castle Falkenstein and The Kerberos Club, but probably my favourite setting at the moment is Airship Pirates, as mentioned on the show.

I watched the webseries, it was pretty decent. I subscribed. I tried to but it kept stalling waiting for the buffer to fill up . . . too many HappyJackers trying at once I suppose?

Steampunk always interested me, but I really knew little about it. Great episode, answered a lot of the questions I had.

Although I did miss the banter of the other hosts, I really liked the interview format. I was unsure just how RPG related this was going to be, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

Hey all! My first time checking out the forums but a long time listener of the podcast. Thank you all for your feedback on the Steampunk episode and I am glad generally many of your where satisfied with the episode. I have to admit I was a little nervous as I wanted to make sure we helped provide enough info and inspiration. I admit I really am not that familiar with many RPG's specific to Steampunk but the goal was to help inform on the genre and to plant seeds. Dead Lands is one of the best I think as I mentioned on the show and others hear as well. The book I have I find excellent as a supplement is called, "The 1880 Smith & Robards Catalog", by Studio Publishing. This has an amazing resource for adding tons of crazy cool tech to your game! Very inspirational. Also the Steampunk band Abney Park put out their own RPG book all about their Steampunk world and focused on airship pirates as that is what the band is themed around, set in a post apocalyptic Steampunk setting. It seems the system is based on the Heresy Engine first introduced in Victoriana 2nd Edition. The website says, "The Heresy Engine is fast, flexible and easy-to-learn, encouraging cinematic action and supporting detailed character options" I know nothing of this but would love to hear feedback if anyone is familiar with this system. airshippirates.abneypark.com/And then of course there is "Iron Kingdoms" RPG from Privateer Press. This is a beautiful dark fantasy tech world. Not Steampunk persay as it is not a Victorian era rather a Fantasy world of magic and goblins but they use a lot of Steam technologies and is a pretty cool looking world, I recommend at least give it a look for inspiration and visuals. I am sure there may be more but I babbled enough. Please feel free to shoot me some questions if ya have thoughts. Also, if you want more Steampunk inspiration, not game related, you can check out our League of STEAM podcast called Steam Geeks, you can find on iTunes or our website. We have been on hiatus but hope to start up recording again soon! Cheers mates! Nick "Crackitus Potts" The League of STEAM
