So a buddy of mine who is stationed in Japan mentioned he wanted to run something set in historical Korea. (He mentioned a dynasty but I am unsure which one - one of the medieval ones I know there were at least 2...) He wanted characters to be heroic sometimes but not all the time, plus he wanted the ability to have omens and such be about as supernatural as it gets. Savage Worlds with its heroic pulpiness was right out. Then we started discussing GURPs of which he is more familiar than me. He said it would be a good system to run it in. Any suggestions of resources for GURPS to deal with Korea?

The core rules are enough to play anything really, besides that, for a historical game I would recomend Martial Arts, with its cool techniques and fighting styles (both armed and unarmed), and Low Tech for its info on technology. With these two you will have whatever you could need really.

GURPS China has a few pages about medieval Korea. It's also a cool sourcebook.

I second Martial Arts, but the techniques can be confusing unless you use the GCA and include its data file. Also, beware that MA can complicate combat. If the GM is familiar with the system, the pre-work he does with MA will be a great help to the players.
