Hey all, I'm looking start a game out here (in PA) with some friends. I'm trying to decide on a system to play a power rangers game in. I thought savage worlds might work since i own the core book but i haven't looked at their super books. Any suggestions? The rough plot is Rangers always existed and after RPM (which is the season i stopped watching in) The world got wiped clean by some terrible bad dude. Cut to thousands of years later when humanity is once again in its stride in the age of technology. Essentially the exact same place but with rangers being forgotten. Bad dude shows up, five high schoolers get teleported into the command center. Alpha 5 and the new Rangers try to cobble a team of ranger suits and zords together out of the pieces of the last 10 teams. Mainly looking for system suggestions but any advice is welcome.

Savage worlds would play it and if you went to Savage Heroes ( fan hack site ) you can find mech and kaiju hacks to go with this. Regards Walt

I'd also go with Savage Worlds on this one because of the feel of the game.

For Rangers the system you need is HOCKEY!!!!!!
oh, not those Rangers.
Yeah, Savage Worlds. Been considering some generic PR stuff with the 7yo. Agree on all points.

Is it important to you to have a system that's still in print/supported? Because if not, then I suggest Big Eyes, Small Mouth (BESM). It has rules built in for things like power armor. Third edition is my personal favorite, although second edition has a separate mecha sourcebook.

You already have the tools. But if you have the time and $40 (and know a computer programming language ;D), try Champions Complete.

Champions Complete would actually be a good fit if one already knew the game system a bit already. JiB

I remember seeing a True20 book called "Mecha vs Kaiju". I remember it so well because I said "wtf is Kaiju". I have never played True20, but I know that it is sort of to Mutants and Masterminds as Savage Worlds is to Deadlands. Based on the original, but made for generic multi-genre purposes.
My 2nd thoughts on the matter were already expressed by kaitoujuliet. Big Eyes Small Mouth has about a million anime licenses.
Finally, sure Savage Worlds could be adapted, but to me the whole Mecha vs Kaiju thing(I watched the first 2 seasons of Power Rangers thanks to my little cousins at the time) is about the big fight. I am not sure Savage Worlds is going to give you a big enough fight. In the human fighting portion where there's lots and lots of those clay guys, Savage Worlds seems great, but the big fights between monsters are usually 1 on 1 epic fights with many blows and tide turning drama. Savage Worlds does not scream "long complicated fights" to me. That is why I suggested maybe a True20 based game
Though, something could certainly be adapted. Maybe each part of the mecha and the monster can be classified as Wild Cards. You have to shaken or wound each arm and leg, then wound the head or torso to make a KO? Just off the top of my head. It could look like you're about to win, but then the Kaiju removes the shaken part of his body, let's say an arm, and punches you just before the death blow. Then the fight has to kind of resume, trying to get all the limbs shaken before you can wound the main part.
Also, I sincerely hope you find the music from the show to play while you GM. It is essential.

Big Eyes Small Mouth has a Super Sentai class which works perfectly. Thanks for the suggestions.
