When is something so common that you would skip the common knowledge roll? Where does the boundary line exist? (And I don't need examples that are terribly obvious like "The Use of Pants")
Just curious because another thread made me think I might be a little Common Knowledge happy with those rolls...

Common Knowledge is "Character experience & back story that the GM just doesn't feel like fussing with."

It is very much a subjective thing I very much sort of play it by feel. Which I know is about as helpful as udders on a boar. If I think that everyone should know a thing then I skip it and just go with it. If I think most people could know something then I allow a common knowledge role, if I think this requires some sort of specialized knowledge then it really needs a specialized knowledge role but a common knowledge roll might apply though there are likely to be penalties.

Not to be a douche, but Savage Worlds Deluxe page 23 explains it pretty clearly..
Your hero knows the basic history of his land, common etiquette, how to get around geographically, how to operate common machinery or equipment native to his time period and location, and who the major players in his locality are.
If a character’s background suggests he should know something about a subject and he must make a roll, add +2 if most in his area or profession would know the answer. If the subject is foreign to a character, subtract 2 or more from the roll.
For example, a character in a Fantasy adventure might have to make a Common Knowledge roll to detect that this cavern was carved by civilized hands, not formed naturally.
Dwarves know more about stonework than Elves, so give the dwarf a +2 on the roll. An elf who has spent most of his life in a forest would roll at a –2 penalty. A human Ranger might also get a +2 to the roll, whereas a human Barbarian might get a -2 to the roll.
It is subjective, but that doesn't mean it has to be overly complicated. Let common sense rule the common knowledge roll.
