Anyone else watch it?
I rather liked it. I'm curious to see how they handle the fey in modern times and see what types are in the show. I have no idea what types were in the first ep. Vampire(ish) with black eyes and yellow irises with upper and lower fangs, moves really fast. Guy with whistle, cone effect or wide beam, that knocks people out. The lead girl is a succubus. Yeah, I know they ain't fey... but she's hawt! And so is her sidekick. The pain eater looked like a taller valdemort with weird finger nails/tendrils that bored into the sides of the head. Gives the victim some weird visions, hiding the attack from the victim. Like mental illusions.
Plus Emmanuelle Vaugier is in it... more hawtness.

I hadn't heard of this til now. If it's on Netflix, I'll definitely give it a shot. My girlfriend has claimed total control over the DVR, and I'm not typically home enough to watch most shows with any regularity.

It's listed but as a "Save" DVD... it aired in Canada in 2010 and is starting it's 3rd this Sept. At least Sci-fi isn't going to cancel it due to budget reasons...

I don't know about this one. The first episode was meh. I definitely got a Dresden files (TV show) vibe from the whole thing. Actually prompted me to want to watch those again...

I watched the first episode of the Dresden Files, and I just couldn't bear it, to be honest. I devoured those books after hearing them mentioned on the podcast, but just felt that the show didn't really do it justice. I guess I shouldn't judge it based on just watching one episode, but does it get better after that? Or am I just picky?
Well, come September, our lease will be up and my girlfriend and I will probably have relocated to a new state. Perhaps if we still have a DVR, I can establish dominance early, and things will be different!

I liked it. I suspect that they're not trying to represent traditional types of fae so much as use the term 'fae' to mean 'non-humans with powers'. Sort of like how they use 'abnormals' in Sanctuary. Grimm seems to stick much closer to species described in actual faerie tales.

I found the TV show before the books and I guess I came to it with fresh eyes. As with most things the books are better than a Syfi channel show, but overall I would suggest you give them a second chance. It think when I first saw it I was just jazzed that it took place in Chicago and Indiana (where I live).

Bob is great on the show and so is Murphy.

I'll give Dresden another shot, then. Thanks, and sorry to derail the thread >.<

Think about the Dresden Files show like you would any movie based on a comic. Same characters, different continuity. I mean for one Bob is a ghost rather then an air spirit so one day one the show doesn't match the books. As long as you can get past the "thats not in the book" issues its a decent little urban fantasy show.

Sorry the minute I watched Harry pull up in a jeep I cried... and when Bob was walking around I turned it off. Call me a tard but I could not take anymore.. The TV show is telling a very different story, with very different characters. Once I can force myself to get over that, I'll see if I can enjoy the show. But that's a hard thing to get over. --Pukka Tukka

I can appreciate that..but if you going to do a very different story and have very different characters: Then why call it Dresden Files? Why not call it "Happy fun time Wizard with a lame sidekick "? (I am being facetious) Its the same problem I had with the Will Smith I-Robot movie. Good movie, but why call it that? It had very very very little to do with the collection of short stories. Its a pretty lame attempt to cash out using name recognition. I dunno even knowing it would be divergent I just could not make myself watch it. To each their own

I'm just saying what we have here. I don't think *they're* even aware that they're telling a different story. Or maybe they're jackholes, and they do know. Did anyone else see Nicholas Cage's name on the Exec Producer credits?
