I've been gearing up for my own Legend of the Five Rings campaign, and in doing so I've been trying to come up with a number of relevant plot hooks to have in my back pocket. Something the HJ crew said back when they were starting the L5R AP campaign really stuck with me -- the idea that the seven tenets of bushido, when in conflict, are sources of dramatic tension all by themselves.
With that in mind, I've started creating a big list of plot hooks categorized by the two principles of bushido in conflict in each one. Since there's a lot of L5R knowledge here and a lot of interest in the game on these forums, I figured I'd throw it open for everyone here to contribute to, so that we all have a pool of ideas to draw from as needed. Hence this publicly-editable Google Drive document: Plot Hooks - Conflicts Between Bushido Tenets. I've put some in there already, and I think that if we can get at least one plot hook for each pairing, that'd be really cool. More would be better, naturally. I'd particularly like to encourage past and current L5R GMs and players to contribute the plot hooks that worked well in their games—those hooks come pre-tested, and now that they've seen the light of day there's no particular spoiler worries!
Here's a sample hook, to give you some idea of what I'm talking about:

Courtesy + Honor
A young scribe, artisan, or shugenja believes his/her sensei is incorrect about a significant detail of the history or trade that master teaches. Naturally, because of their relative status, they cannot publicly critique or disagree with the sensei who taught them; likewise, students cannot and should not overtly seek to prove their master wrong (and in this case, they likely have no desire to see their master embarrassed.) The student therefore asks the party to investigate the matter for themselves, and to present said information to the sensei or to the court as their own discovery, which the sensei “may find interesting”.
