Has anyone ever video-recorded a gaming session?
Would this be creepy on a whole new level at a convention to ask the players if you could record the game that you GM?

I don't think so. There are lots of "actual play" podcasts or episodes of regular RPG podcasts. Happy Jacks included. I do believe at least a few "video actual plays" out there on Youtube. Granted, Veremond use to always want to video out sessions back in the day, and we shot it down because we were afraid it might get irritating and we might get too hammy. Thought are possible pitfalls, but it doesn't ring the creepy bell at all.

Just so you have your bases covered, I'd suggest you get consent from the players in writing. This is assuming you intend to publish or otherwise distribute the recording.
You can google "Actor's Release" to find some (probably overly comprehensive) examples.
Chances are you wouldn't have a problem anyway, but the fact is you never know who's signing up for your game.
